Ticket for Plate Not Plainly Visible

Hey guys, so I got this ticket while driving my car. My plates are faded. Fair enough. Going to Service Ont Tomorrow to get new plates.
But what is interesting, the cop said the ticket would be withdrawn once I get the new plates, or I wouldn't have to pay the fine. I asked him again about that and he said see page 3. Nothing I see there about that, just asks if I want to do this hearing remotely etc.
Does this make any sense to you all?
 
I once got a ticket for something or other (expired reg? out of date address on license?) and somebody advised me to get the problem fixed immediately, then schedule a first appearance with the prosecutor and give them the paperwork showing I took prompt action. I did this (prosecutor was a TERRIFYING lady tearing apart people in line in front of me, but she was civil enough to me) and the charge was dropped. I wonder if this is what they meant?
 
Here I am wondering where you placed that plate on the VStrom. Not many options other than stock option or the tank bag.

That sound reasonable, I'm hoping it's something like that. He did also say once you get the new plates, they use their online system to know it was done.

As someone mentioned they have in the past been willing to dop the charges if you get it fixed, hence the phrase 'fix it ticket'. I would still go to early resolution and provide proof as there is no guarantee a) they will know you did it b) that they will dismiss the charge.
 
It has been a long time but when I got a ticket that could be resolved (failure to provide proof of insurance as I had an expired slip with me), I faxed info to police station and cop cancelled ticket without involving court officers. My suspicion is the ticket never actually got filed. If I hadn't dealt with it quickly, I suspect he would have filed the ticket. I was on my way to look at an 1100gs and the stop threw me off. Didn't end up buying the bike.

yeah i believe they stopped accepting proof at police divisions now.

None what so ever.
The charge is OPERATING a vehicle with "plates not visible"... you did that and got charged. AFIK there is no automatic withdrawal of charges once the ticket is filed. Once the ticket is processed the only entity that can withdraw the charge is the court, the charging officer can ask that the charges be stayed, but it is ultimately up to the court.
I'd be following up with the court clerk, with paperwork showing you got new plates... don't mail in the ticket, go down to the court in person.

I think I will file for early resolution, they have a bunch of online video methods to deal with this. I don't really have time to go to court in person.

Got the new plates already, will file this shortly.

I take it this kind of ticket won't impact points and or insurance?

It shouldn't as it's not a moving violation.

Everything I can find says this is a non-moving violation and therefore shouldn't affect insurance. I don't see demerit points for that charge either. Fwiw, demerit points do not matter at all to most people. You have lots and the hit only lasts two years. They are an issue for the worst of the worst only.
