For most of the season, my bike seemed to be getting incredibly poor mileage and I posted about it here a few months ago.
I was getting only like half of what was specified in the manual (~4.5L/100km depending on hwy vs. city). I was worried that one of the cylinders wasn't working, or that I had fouled the plugs and clogged the fuel filter after letting the tank run dry once. I put some fuel additives in, swapped the plugs and the bike had more power, but the fuel light would still come on at 100km and I was averaging about 10L/100km, which was unacceptable. I ordered the Haynes manual and have been looking into putting aside the time to swap the fuel filter and clean the air filter or replace it with a K&N.
So anyway, something occurred to me and I hopped onto google to confirm it. I could get from Toronto to Caledon and back with a fair bit of gas to spare, and that's just about 35km each way, which seemed about right. Except when you map the route on google maps, it's closer to 65km each way.
What could be the problem?
The trip odometer is set to miles.
