Hey folks, first post and new to TO.

Looking to get back on two wheels and the heart is set on a 686.

Quote I've got from state farm is full ins for 2200 or no comp/no collision option for 1800.

Thoughts on these rates?

profile:

-new m1 (had a bike and license before in Nova Scotia but it expired)
-full G for +5years
-no at fault accidents
-1 under 15 ticket in last 3 yrs
-27yrs old
-live downtown toronto (m5a)

I do have two rental unit policies and a personal rental policy that I could bring to a future insurer if that helps..

Also* wondering what the 686 is classified as for insurance purposes. Would there be a big difference vs. a 620 for example?

Thanks

That's the quote I got for the same bike....Everything is the same except I have no tickets and I live near Belleville. I went with a new ZX6R and its a little over $1600 a year for full insurance. The R6 is 599 CC and its just under a $1000 a year. Since my bike is 636 it gets bumped up. The cut off is 599CC. State Farm goes by CC. A 883 Sportster cruiser is $2400 but my Supersport 636 is $1600. Makes sense...

Thanks for the tip - its funny you mention the 883 as its another bike I was looking at but now i see statefarm is only CC focused (which is odd to me).

Did you get any other more competitive quotes on the Duc by chance?

The Co-Operators were much cheaper on the 696 than State Farm for some strange reason .

Co-operators doesn't care about CC's at all.

When I first bought my FJR 1300 I was a 23 M with an M2 paying 1400 dollars a year for 2 mill liability only. They wanted 1800 for full but I declined.

Co-op classifies every bike based on risk/payouts/style of rider of that bike; As it should be. Based on claim statistics a 600SS has a much higher chance to have an expensive claim versus a 1800cc goldwing. Hence the reasoning why they stopped caring about CCs.
