Meh, traction is a function of weight.

He lets the other dude start pulling him, spinning tires and digging in, at that point, the john deere doesnt have as much traction as if his wheels werent spinning. At that point he applies power to start going forward.

Also you will notice the draw bar is not horizontal but angles upwards towards the steam engine. This also helps the steam engine as the bar being pulled also causes downward pressure on the back of the steam engine adding even more weight which equals traction.

My friend had a 92 f2, let me ride it quite a bit when it was new. I loved that bike, hated the hand crank to start it lol.
