Just came into work (downtown) found a parking spot and turned bike off, then while reversing in I realized I was a weird angle so the lazy me always turns on the bike to go forward again...well the bike just didn't like it this time ...now no power or anything...do you think the battery just died? gonnna go down later and check out the connections and try to put her on otherwise gonna need to have my brother buy a battery drop it off downtown. I'm at College and Yonge....I guess no bike shop close here right I know crappy tire won't sell batteries for bikes. It's a Honda Shadow, has anyone had their battery just die like this?

Did it even try to turn over? Was there any power to anything else (cluster, lights, fuel pump)

Yep gonna go down there and check the fuses after a few googles it came up as a fuse maybe the culprit...hope crappy tire sells these fuses at the Bay and Dundas store...

Will keep you guys tuned to whats happening .....thanks for the replies...this is why this site ROCKS!!

Has the bike been showing signs of a weak battery lately? Sluggish startup? Weak headlights when bike is not running?
I dunno if you're gonna want to try and bump a Shadow downtown toronto, might be tricky lol.

No the battery has not been showing any signs of weekness..and the dash has no power basicly no power anywhere..so I'm really thinking the main fuse...now I hope I can find which one is the main fuse...

Largest value fuse, which should be printed on top.

CT at Bay and Dundas sells fuses. But even if you do replace the fuse, you need to find the source of the short circuit or you'll just keep blowing the same fuse.

If it isn't the fuse you could be looking at voltage regulator and or stator problems. I've had this problem on my last two bikes. If the regulator goes for a ****,it'll burn out the stator before too long. Dig out your manual and do a voltage test on the bike, and that should tell you what the problem is.

Hey Guys...got it working...was a loose connection on the battery...happened a few months ago also, I just open the compartment and shake the sucker and pow it works does'n t do this often so not too concerned just some gremlins there somewhere...who like me to take a look at them once in awhile...;)

Thanks for all the input guys...once again you all rock and most importantly all bikers rock...had a BMW 1973 boxer engine biker drive by and ask if all was good when he saw I was working on the bike....that's what it's all about we bikers take concern for fellow riders..

Doesn't matter what you ride, if I see a fellow rider that looks like he/she's in trouble or needs help, I pull over.
I do this for cages too when I'm not in a hurry to get somewhere.
Helping out has this sort of feel-good feeling that's all warm and fuzzy.

Glad your bike is up and running again, and now you know where to look next time this happens to you.
Try to fix it though just in case shaking the battery doesn't resolve the problem next time. ;)

Secure the connections. I lost power while riding on the highway once. Not fun.
