while I agree 100% with this verdict, Im left to wonder what it may mean for people in the future ?

Can we be prosectued for our thoughts ? Can murder/mystery writers or screenwriters now he imprisoned for writing these things down ?

People that write in their diaries that they " were so mad at ( insert name ) they wanted to kill them, or punch them in the face "

The two cops that caught this jerk should be given medals for proabably saving the life or lives of many children .

or, do some people wonder what 2 cops were doing harassing someone that wasnt breaking any laws at the time.

very interesting indeed.

since he had previous records, surely it was factored in in the judge's decision. if he didn't try to murder someone before chances are he would've gotten off.

This sentence was well thought out, and IMO, handled the right way. Given the full context of the situation, they debated, considered everything in front of them, then declared him a dangerous offender and put him behind bars for ever. Probably a good example of the system doing the right thing, the right way.

There's a difference between randomly saying you want to punch people in the face, and going into great detail about mutilating children and having sex with their dismembered body parts. Especially after you're found lurking in people's bushes.

I suspect even atheists believe this psycho belongs in hell. Chances are though he will end up in solitary confinement (like Bernardo is) and if someone from general population gets to him it'll be game over.

Consider though, hypothetically he got a lighter sentence and he was eventually paroled; someone like this would re-offend and I doubt anyone wants that on their conscience.

anyone seen the movie street kings starring keanu reeves? a cop should shoot this guy then plant a gun on him. problem solved.

In his diary he wrote “Well this is the third attempt now. I’m going to have to put sleeping pills in (her mother’s) beer." His third attempt proves that it was not in his mind; he was acting upon it. He should see some jail time but not life. I know he's one sick bastard but this has implications that go far beyond this case. I don't see the sentence being up held in a higher court.

We simply cannot start putting people away for crimes they haven't committed.

I'm no fan of this scumbag believe me, but a crime is something that happened not something that MIGHT happen. His writings are sick, but in a free country even the most deranged, sick, dispicable people have the right to express themselves.

With all due respect, he didn't just document thoughts he actually took action to fulfill his sick fantasies and documented such actions. He belongs in jail for crimes he committed already, otherwise, next time someone attempts to murder you and fail, we should say wait a second he was not successful, let's wait till he actually murder you or your loved ones THEN punish him. How do you like them apples?

He did commit a crime. He was stalking and preying on a child, with documentation to prove it. He had had failed attempts before. Even though they don't have a serious crime scene on their hands, they still have to deal with a crazy person.

I think they did good by locking him up. He will get out one day and we will read about his mission later when he is successful at his rape, torture, and killing.
