No it wasn't the kickstand. I actually have some clearance issues with the bike, so I wasn't able to put one foot on the floor in time after I came to a complete stop
But if you wanted to know ... I have dropped my bike without having my kickstand fully engaged lolol

I have an 08' ninja 250 lol and no, just scratched on the mirrors, and my signal light cover is scratched - I'll replace that once it's completely broken

Yes, and depending on the amount of issue, look at having your seat carved down so you get better ground placement so the sliders never get used.

OP, out of curiosity, how short are you? I've seen some short people on ninja 250s, but even they didn't have clearance issues.

Im 4'11. I can have one foot on the floor with tippy toes (my leg is black and blue from holding the bike up during traffic and complete stops lol), which also means when I back out my bike i walk it lol
