The country has been slowly collapsing for the last 10 years, but soon as trump becomes president elect, suddenly the hamsters in ottawa start spinning real quick dont they? Doesnt seem coincidental to me.

Massive amounts of immigration has all but destroyed the housing market, infrastructure and healthcare in the country, no one bats an eye. The minute trump starts talking about it and threatens a tariff, suddenly immigration is a problem that needs to be addressed ASAP, and Trudeau has to resign immediately.

I guess we owe our thanks to donald trump for getting rid of justin and fixing our mass immigration problem.

To be fair.. the immigration was starting to be addressed before the US election.. the number of int students was clawed back.. the number of work permits, permits to perms, etc.. was slowing.
Trump did make them jump on physical border security and illegal crossings.. but the programs that were being abused.. that got us to where we are.. were already being addressed.. somewhat... but those don't have anything to do with Trump.

Interesting take.
What is even funnier is that Trump isn't officially in office yet. Just shows how pathetic our gov is, and caved before anything happens.

I guess if the tariffs do happen this will give PP the excuse he will need not to "axe the tax". Fuk talk about a silver bullet...
No wonder Alberta is trying to gain more power over themselves and natural resources with all the clueless nonsense in the hamster cage.

A lot of left leaning countries, including Canada, face similar challenges with borders, immigration, economy (inflation and affordability), and crime. A lot are moving right -- their citizens are tired of the woke left and democracies are responding.

I suspect the pendulum will swing right for a few years in Canada before the population gets tired of right side's penchant for austerity, deregulation and tightening of the social safety net. In another 10 years the pendulum will swing back.

Well, except for the UK that recognised what the right had done for the past 14 years with their immigration boogeyman and crony policies and booted the idiots out in historic fashion and France that worked together to prevent the far right from getting their grip on the reigns of power.

Austria lurched right..but then, they have a teeny bit of history there.

What’s most worrying to me is the influence non-elected mega-rich troll individuals are having on politics worldwide.

My point was that this is nothing new. At least Musk is actually doing it in the light.

The ultra-rich have had their thumbs on the scales since the beginning of time. This is not a single party issue.
The same can be said for Trump.

Most politicians are crooked in the shadows. He’s crooked in the light, and he’s quite proud of that fact.

If only we could land in the middle at some point...and stay there! But i guess that's not where "meaningful" change is made

"Donald Trump did not rule out using military force to take control of the Panama Canal and Greenland and announced a bold plan to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the 'Gulf of America'. The president-elect, 78, announced his threat of coercion on the global stage and the name swap during a wild and wide-ranging press conference at Mar-a-Lago on Tuesday morning. He laid out his vision for the world, took aim at Canada and tore into President Joe Biden 's climate agenda.
Trump also attacked his nemesis, Special Counsel Jack Smith, by calling him a 'nutjob' and demanding all his criminal cases be brought to an end. 'He will execute everybody,' he raged before taking questions from the press. Just 13 days before the inauguration, he said the United States was entering the 'golden age' and will 'take off like a rocketship' when he gets the keys back to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
He also slammed the crackdown on gas heaters by saying electric heaters 'itch' and said windmills are killing whales. In a remarkable moment, a reporter asked Trump if could assure he would not use 'military or economic coercion' to take control of the Panama Canal and Greenland. 'I´m not going to commit to that,' Trump said, when asked if he would rule out the use of the military. 'It might be that you´ll have to do something. The Panama Canal is vital to our country.' He added, 'We need Greenland for national security purposes.'"
