Test ride a bike before buying

Where can I test ride a Kawasaki Versys before buying one? It looks like the GTA dealers won't allow you to test ride before buying, which I find ridiculous. I'm about to drop almost 10k without knowing if I like the bike or not. I understand there's issues with the insurance, but this is a bit crazy. I know there are demo rides in may, june etc, but do I have to wait another 8 months to try it?

I know alot of dealers won't let you test ride it unless they think it will close the deal.
I can see if it is a brand new bike but they should have a demo model in there somewhere that they could let you take for a spin?

Thats kind of the way things are with bikes. There are a few shops you might be lucky if you have some sort of relationship with them, but for the most part its a "no" to test rides.

The last 3 bikes I have bought from dealers I could not test ride (2002 CB919, 2006 BMW GS and 2010 BMW GSA). The last 2 bikes were well $15+ and $20+ and I still could not test ride them. I did my research, lots of reading on the bikes and ultimately bought based on that. I was not disappointed by any of them.

That's what I was hoping, but it seems like they don't have a demo model. A few years ago I went to Triumph Detroit to take a look at the then new Street Triple. I went with a couple of friends and we were able to demo the whole range of bikes, no questions asked. It was great. We all had M full licences(not that I think it would make a dif. in the US).

You can't go wrong with a Versys. I've put 19000km on mine this year including one trip to Deals Gap & and other to WV. I just put it away for the season otherwise you could have tried mine. Let me know if you have any questions.

Do you have your full M?

GP bikes in Whitby will let you take them for a ride. Not sure they'll have what you're looking for though.

If you're talking about the Versys 1000...I know that Kahuna has one that is available for demo.

The bike hasn't change much since 2010. I have to agree with everything they say.

I've tested both a Ninja 1000 & a ZX6R at Kahuna. Both were on my own, and out for over an hour. Check & see if they have a Versys 650 set up. If they do, and you're serious, they should let you take one.

+1 for GP! I've tested 4 different bikes from them when I was last looking. They were great, no hassles, and even re-imbursed me when I had to gas 1 up.

Depends on the dealer. GP Bikes were great - took out a $20, 000 multistrada once. Same with BMW. Did a demo day once and also went again on my own for a test ride.
Oh, and Kahuna also let me take out the ninja 1000 by myself to check it out.

Good luck
