Brief: A few nice turns, good surface and scenery, too short (aren't they all)

I was looking to take a lady friend for a little jaunt this weekend and consulted the Great Ontario Bike Roads thread (http://www.gtamotorcycle.com/vbforum/showthread.php?95-Great-Ontario-Bike-Roads-The-BIG-map!). Our departure time was around 1900h, so we wanted something nearby. We decided on Terra Cotta for the proximity and stream - she was keen on taking a little dip to cool off. The map was a little difficult to decipher, but eventually we decided to take Hwy 10 to King, then down Side Road 22 to Main through Georgetown.

King Road was fine until I got caught behind a couple slow drivers. My lady friend was as disappointed as I was - she even threw up her visor to comment on how slowly they were going. After making it down to Terra Cotta Park, we took another spin up - behind another slow moving vehicle - before wisely waiting as long as possible at the top before going down for another run. She commented after that had I leaned any more, she would have squeezed the daylights out of me. I thought she was exaggerating, but I didn't mind ;)

The bottom had construction, so we just chilled for a bit at a little park at Confederation and Main. After a little issue starting the bike (thanks to the two bikers, one street, one cruiser, for the push start!) we headed back up to Terra Cotta park for a little dip in the Credit Valley River. Ride back up was nice, no traffic until Hwy 10, then smooth sailing from there!

All in all, I'd say this is a good route for a day trip with someone special. Bring a picnic, enjoy the park and little towns, and get a little lean while you're at it. The roads aren't too challenging, but take that with a grain of salt as I'm a pretty new rider. Enjoy!

I'm glad your route wasn't too bad (would have been better without the slow cages). I went up to Terra Cotta once on my lunch break and took Heritage all the way up to King, then went back down Winston Churchill...was severely disappointed. I counted like, 2 or 3 turns? Did I just take a weird path and totally miss the area where everyone rides?

The ride up was so straight and smelled like cow dung hahaha. Coming back down WC wasn't bad there was a downhill turn or so IIRC.

3 Turns sounds about right. It's a nice short little detour while in the area, but not worth leaving your house for, if it's your main destination.

True. The road itself is not exactly GoPro worthy, but as a day out it's a nice area.

Spent last Saturday canoeing from Terra Cotta to Norval, then I rode the bicycle back to Terra Cotta to pick up the car while my wife relaxed with the canoe. A much better way to enjoy that area. On Sunday we did a 2-up ride up Southwood Rd, lunch in Gravenhurst, and stopped for a swim at Muskoka Beach. Part of Muskoka Beach Road has been re-paved, and it turned out to be a good bit of fun. We then found some nice back roads to make our way back to the top of the 404. All in all, a couple of nice one-day outings. Free, you may want to try our Sunday route of you and your lady friend are up for another ride/swim outing.

You turned the wrong way when you got to King Road on Heritage. Should have turned right rather than left.

It's still only about 5 turns, but that's better than 2 or 3.

If you know the area, you can string together a number of other roads that each have a couple of corners in them and make something that's quasi-decent for southern Ontario. Nothing will turn this area into Deals Gap. I wouldn't ride for an hour to do that road, but for a 10-minute jaunt from my house, it'll do.
