Hi All,

Interesting news from Learning Curves the other day.

"Big news from the ministry regarding M1 and M2 licences. Students will be temporarily allowed to take our M2 course without an M1 licence. In addition, M1 and M2 licences will remain valid if they were set to expire on or after March 1st. But for how long, we don’t know! Here’s a link to Ontario.ca if you want to learn more https://www.ontario.ca/page/extended-validation-periods."

Please don't ask me how they are going to handle the licencing afterward. I don't know and it doesn't seem to be on the ministry website. At least this should help some people get into a course and get their training done this season . . .

For now, enjoy the snow out there today . . .

Just starting or returning instructor? It's a lot of fun. I am usually in Hamilton or Waterloo.
This may be the only springtime we wouldn't have been snowed out in April.

1st year instructor.

Did my m1 and m2 exit with them. Good friends with quite a lot of current staff.

Super. You will like it, hope to see you on the lot one day.

Have they pulled out and checked the bikes, or done any type of course refresh for the instructors yet?

It's going to be interesting for those who didn't get their first aid renewed in time.

that was originally scheduled for 1st weekend in april.

perhaps the more senior staff have done it, hasn't trickled down to me.

First aid is going to be an obstacle for many businesses. Our kids daycare was supposed to be renewing everyone easter monday. When douggie throws the switch, probably 30% or more of the childcare workers in the province will be expired. There are only so many trainers to run recert classes. There could be a big backlog.

First aid lasts 3 (?) years , , , I think. I am still good and technically we only need one first aider on the lot but they train everyone. Ya there will be lots of problems like that I assume.
Bikes were just dropped off in Hamilton last weekend ? and we have all recertified in March literally a week before things shut down. Ready to go man. Will see how long it takes to get things rolling.

Up here it lasts three years, but is renewed every two years. Because of the weather, the bikes are still in storage without batteries. No one has tested, but that shouldn't be a problem, as there are no new instructors, and everyone's had a couple of years experience.

I had M2 classes scheduled with LC, Markham location for Apr 18/19. Emailed them a couple days ago. The response ..."need Drive Test Centre to open back up otherwise we can’t issue M2 tests and submit the test results "

I feel as there are more places opening up, classes like this should be also allowed to open up. I assume while out with the bikes there is enough space between students to be at safe distances. The theory classes can just be done online.

Until then, I will continue to have an itch which I cannot scratch.

Not a matter of having the space on the lot for the class, but rather when the Drive test centres reopen. Even when they do reopen there WILL be a HUGE backlog, plus they may not be able to have the same number of employees, due to configuration of the office may not permit side by side spacing, etc.

EVERYTHING, will be much different when it reopens. Just as with stores, restaurants etc NO more just walk in.

So someone who currently *does not* hold an M1 can attend the a course? does this only apply for LC or all accredited school? Not sure i see that in the link you posted. Can you elaborate?

I have a buddy who is currently booked for another school but is expected to have M1 by the time the course time comes. Not sure if this will be possible but if it is waived then its great news for him!

Why...would you book before you get licensed.

Courses fill up quickly and the M1 test is trivially easy?
and then you fail the m1 after all and can't re-book in time? or your course date gets pushed and your license expires?

not for me!

You dont book m1, you just show up and write it. If you fail, you get back in line, pay again and take another shot at it. Keep going until you pass.
