Telescopic H4 HIDs

I have been looking at HID options to upgrade my headlight. Retrofitting a telescopic projector is impossible due to limited space. I considered installing two blazer fog lights, one for low one for high. Running high and low at the same time would be risky with my small stator. Switching between low and high would not work too well since HIDs need time to fire up.

So I decided to do the unthinkable. I want to use a telescopic 55W H4 bulb. The one that comes with integrated shield. I know... I know... god will kill a kitten every time I pass a car blah blah. Heck new acuras are HORIBLE to pass and have a lot more glare than any other car on the road. Any one use one of these? Which ones are better, the ones that retract in or the ones that move up and down? Will a KTMs vibrations kill them? I do usually kill a bulb a month.

For example this is a bulb

I have them in my truck and my buddy has them on his R6 and they work great.
Dont have to worry about your hi beam being some little halogen strapped to the side of the HID or having a seperate HID for Hi-beams and when you hit it you have to wait till it gets to temp for full light output.

If your going that route www.ddmtuning.com has a great price on them and lots of good reviews, Just expect about a 3 week ship time and you won't be disappointed.

Do they come with shields? The DDM ones seem to be quite deep, I am worried they might not fit. My H4 bulb almost touches my steering stem.

DDM's H4's Bulbs look exactly the same as the ones pictured.

i have those on my maxima and i love them. i can flicker those high beams insanely fast...lol.

Today, returning from blue I decided to install HIDs on my audi 90, see how they work out then install them on my bike too if I like them. Should I go with slim or raptor? The raptor seems like a better choice since the ignitor is built in. No need to worry about the bulge in the cable.

Red Liner740, is there a noticeable difference between high and low on these?

Oh yea, and what's the "road tax"(charge) for using these?

HUGE difference...

on mine where the cuttoff is on top for the low beam, hitting the highbeams makes that the low point. Its farking blinding when i flash. I live in boonies and to be honest i couldnt live without HID's on the country roads.

Only time i get flashed is when i'm going over the hill and the incoming car is below my cutoff and they think my high beams are on. They flash me, i truly blind them and they realize those ARE my low beams.

since the his are so destructive is it possible to add the hid for just the high beam. I have 2 h7 bulbs but dont know where to get a cheap ballast from. I'll probably have to order a new bulb to for the fz6 anyway.

The thing about HID's for just Hi beams as on my F4i it has 1 low and 1 Hi H7's. The Hi works great if you leave it on but you have to wait about 30secs for it to get to full brightness.
If your doing alot of country roads with no one on them that they are great but if you are using them quickly they don't get the full potential out of them.

Standard Halogens are usually 55W and HID's are Usually 35W.

That's the steady-state demand after they've warmed up. During the warm-up period they use considerably more, which is why they generally need upgraded power circuits to them.

I too live in the boonies, and had the pleasure of being on a two laner last night in the snowfall, with an oncomer with HID's installed in both their headlights and foglights.

I had to come to a complete stop because I couldn't see the road anymore.
