what is a teksavvy box? Teksavvy TV? I added the latest chromecast downstairs (chromecast plus google TV) and it's awesome. Connected it to disney+, netflix and prime. Press the button on the remote (yay for chromecast with remote), say the name of what you want to watch and it gives you a link to watch it on one of your services. No more fighting through internet hell trying to find out if movie x is available in canada and which service has it.

what is a teksavvy box?

probably talking about the set-top box:

Please Note: The TekSavvy TV DV8219 set-top-box currently does NOT support Netflix

Yes the set-top-box. I assume the equivalent of my rogers box.
Chromecast and Roku is that hardware or software? This tech is not my thing - remember I ride without a cellphone or gps.

Hardware. You stick it in an HDMI port on your TV and power it. Fundamentally, think of the guts of a cell phone with no screen or battery, basically a mini-computer that can run apps. Older chromecast required a phone/tablet/computer to cast content to the TV and would not have been a good fit for you. On that front, do you have a wireless network in your house? Many of the solutions assume you do and cannot be hardwired. Also, what TV are we trying to connect this to? Do you have available HDMI ports?

Will CC or Roku mean I don't need the teksavvy TV option?
Can I get regular channels (CTV CBC etc) through these?

I have smart TV (I'll check on ports). I assumed teksavvy would provide a router / wireless setup similar to rogers

Chromecast with google TV doesn't have conventional TV channels. There may be some exceptions (for instance, CityTV may have an app that allows you to watch their channel) but in general, it is an on-demand setup not passive. I suspect the rest are similar but don't know.

Where do you live? It wouldn't take long for someone to help you set it up. Chromecast is $70 with no service fee, roku and others are similar. If live TV is important to you, Teksavvy tv may be a good option (I know nothing about it) and then add something else (roku/chromecast/etc) to watch your streaming services. Your TV should have at least two HDMI inputs (even the bottom of the line normally has two or three although one may be on the side and one on the back).

if you own a smart TV it should support Amazon Prime, Netflix, Youtube and Disney+ without the need of a CC or ROKU ....

It depends how old it is. Netflix killed their support for smart TV's running proprietary OS's more than a year ago. If it is a modern TV running android it probably works. I was using PS3 for netflix but it can't do disney+ (and never will) so picked up the chromecast as it was reasonably cheap and well implemented.

Was going to say the same as George. Should be able to plug in a network cable and go.

Our old AppleTV stopped supporting Youtube for some reason. Workaround so far has been to hook up a laptop to the TV.

Correct but he should check :)

I got a Vizio M series from like 2013 and it still supports Netflix and Youtube. No amazon or Disney +

Wait - you have a Teksavvy STB _and_ a Roger's one? Who do you use for TV/Internet? Both??

Assuming for the moment you have a Teksavvy and watch television via IPTV - yes, I agree with what others have posted. Purchase a Chromecast with Google TV for everything EXCEPT live TV, and keep using your teksavvy box (or rogers box) for live tv.

If you are trying to do everything with one box, and are looking to cut the TV cord from Rogers/Teksavvy, my favourite box at the moment is Formuler's GTV which includes the "MyTVOnline2" app used for "grey market" iptv. Search kijiji for IPTV, and you can find a hundred different "services" for $10-15 month for live tv. Then you get the best of both worlds - Android TV OS for Netflix/Amazon/Crave/etc as well as a full-blown TV interface for thousands of live-tv channels from around the world.

I can watch Netflix & Utube now through the smart TV but it's plugged into a rogers box.

So far my take away is this. With teksavvy internet I can watch Netflix through the smart TV but would need a their "tv" product in order to get some regular channels (CBC CTV)

I'm in St Marys GG
