Technophobe wants Bluetooth

So I am an admitted technophobe. Up to now I have been memorizing sections of a ride, putting my phone in the top box and then memorizing the next section at the next stop. It's gotten annoying, especially when doing Cannonball Rides as they have specific shops to stop at (usually a little of the main road) and I end up overshooting the stop or missing a turn and having to double back.

I'd like to buy a Bluetooth headset I can connect to my phone or a GPS so I can hear my directions. It has to be loud enough to be heard through molded ear plugs and must be comfortable. Ability to stream music or podcasts is nice but not a must. I don't often ride with other riders so I don't care how many others I can connect with. I'm sure 3 would be plenty for the odd time I do ride with others. Waterproof is a must and a battery that will last long enough to do an Ironbutt ride.

I'm sure many of you here have a lot of experience with these units.
Are you open to replacing molded ear plugs with flanged tip ones that double as the Bluetooth device? Also comes with memory foam tips if preferred. Lasts about 12hrs you would have to connect with others via a direct call or WhatsApp individual/group audio.

Plugfones.

The in-helmet options are numerous but I find at highway speeds are practically useless in terms of clarity and volume (personal opinion).
