TD MM gives a 2007-08 ZZR600 a "high performance" rating? Want $9000/year...

I thought insurance was supposed to be cheaper on the zzr600 because it is not classed as a supersport like a zx6r? Apparently not at TD MM since I got a quote and the guy said it was classed as a high performance model, so my premium was going to be $9000/year liability only. :-?

Can anyone recommend a company that gives the zzr600 (and bikes like it) a classification like "sport touring" so that the premiums aren't insane? Preferably a company that doesn't hate 21 y/o males with a clean record and a full license.

Thanks.

At 21 most companies are going to bend you over full m or not. Next try would be state farm. Good luck. Insurance in onterrible is a pathetic joke at best

If you meet their standards, SF might give you a better rate. At your age, you in for a good 3-4K/year.

Get used to it, I'm 29 and still getting dicked with a good record and a full M for over 10 years. Insurance rates are ridiculous in this country for anything that will beat your grocery getter to the corner store!

I would've sent you to TD MM for those good rates on the ZZR600.
Did something change there in the last year or two?

if the zzr was a naked bike it would not be classed high performance. plastics doubles horsepower.

Just the province of Ontario - not the country.

When I was shopping for a bike I found there were a few bikes that didn't make any sense when it came to insurance quotes. Good for you that you are checking this out prior to making a purchase. Play around with the TD MM quote site and see what comes up more reasonably priced. Be careful however, when I did that and finally pulled the trigger the final insurance price was higher than the quote.

As the others are mentioning, State Farm. They don't classify bikes by category. I was just quoted $97/m for a Ninja 650 and $101/m for a ZX6R.

I was perplexed, but it's true!

They are just trying to tell you they don't want you on there records, Shop somewhere else.

With SF it should be the other way around, the 600 should be cheaper than the 650.

For S#!ts and giggles with SF I got a quote for a 600 SS and a 650 scooter and the scooter was more expensive.

I got a quote in the same range for the ZZR as well but I played around with the website and I got a quote for a VFR800 for around $250/mo.

State Farm is still going to be like $400/month or more at that age. When I was 24 and got my 650R on an M1 it was $430/mo living in Guelph. Clean record. Coworker has a Hyabusa on Allstate and said his rate dropped from his SV1000 because the SV was classified as "sport" while the Hyabusa was "sport touring". Maybe try them?

It is. I confirmed it with my broker. They charge entirely by engine size.

I believe allstate requires full m and 30 years of age or older

what's your definition of getting dicked?? I'm turning 25 next year and really hope to get a SS but these insurance companies are ****ing us hard... Intact ****ed over the majority of Jevco customers and SF was the one decent company if you were eligible but now I heard they're being bought out as well.
