Taking Battery out of ninja 400r?

Anyone know how to take the battery out of the Ninja 400r? I consulted the manual and it says "take the battery out" but it isn't that easy. I think the tank needs to be lifted in order to take it out but I don't want to start playing around with things if I don't need to. I'm doing this to bring the battery inside to charge it in room temperature over the winter but it just won't come out of the battery case mounted on the motorcycle.

Tried looking on google but the ninja 400 is a rather rare bike so its hard to find video tutorials on it. If anyone is familiar with the 400 and battery removal, let me know. Thanks

Ill try using that "suitable band" or a shoelace or something. That seems like it would be easier to take out. It's not as easy as the diagram makes it out to be. The inside of the bike is very clustered and getting both hands in there is quite tough.

Its actually very easy compared to most bikes.Take the seat off (the key lock is under the seat just above the left side - gear peg area ) lift seat up and pull back . Then unscrew the battery terminals and pull it out. Forgot which comes first positive or negative. (check the manual- I believe its negative then positive reverse when installing).

Take a look for videos showing the ninja 650r (2009 - 2011) battery removal. Its basically the same bike.

You know you can post pictures with your cell into this thread, right?

Thanks to everyone who posted. I used a shoelace and finally pulled it out.

Are there any objections as to charging inside my basement?

Make sure you're using a trickle charger and keep it off of a concrete floor.

That charger is fine, just plug it in and forget about it.
