im taking a week off work to ride around, first main route solo is 27 from toronto to barrie...the rest we are going to be going around barrie, collingwood and muskoka areas to meet upw ith some old friends.
anything i should know? this road historically was always in great condition, with the exception of a minor bridge rebuild.
i havent beebn on it in a few years, so anything i should know? radar traps, road hazards, resurfacing projects.

thanks

I ride that road quite often and it's very good. Just watch out for the radar trap in Nobleton at the new subdivision or the north edge of town. It's north of the Tim Horton's on the east side. He hangs out on the road that leads to Nobelton Senior Public school. Usually tags people going south into town when it goes quickly from an 80-60-50. That said, he sometimes tags people speeding up going north in anticipation of the 80.

thanks for the tip, is that school new? i dont remember there being one there... thats right where the long straight section it...actually..looking at google maps, i remember there being more twists in the road than there actually is lol.
ill have to find another route home, my buddy has one that goes barrie to toronto/brampton, ill get the info off him again.

i wish there was a app you can run that tells you when there is a speed limit change. waze needs that added to it...nice audible "speed change to 50km/hr" notification would be awesome.

i use sygic on android and it does have speed limits of the roads. It actively displays the speed limit on the screen along with navigation and when you go over lets say 10 or 11 km/h of the speed limit it gives a sound warning along with a visual warning.

It's called looking at the signs and paying attention

This. Also, Waze tells you where the cops are. Even better than knowing the speed limit, imho ;) Not sure I trust it 100%, but I haven't seen any false negatives yet.

It is by that school. I guess the road has changed since you have been up last.

They have built a few new subdivisions in that area over the last few years and they are building more just north of the school on the east side. In fact the little strip mall just south of there on the east side with the Tim's is also undergoing a reno.

All the that has attracted the local cops.

Lots of sideroads change speed up and down all the time..thats where cops always wait so as soo as the limit changes it's too late.

OPP was out all over 27 yesterday. I hit a speed trap every 15 min or so.
Someone else on a all red SS got stopped.
There was also a small section of road paving being done.
