For anyone going down this year, it's slated to be repaved starting sometime in March/May and hopefully be done before the end of June.
Apparently they will close down one direction at a time in the area they're working on. So it won't be impassible, just really annoying, especially if you get stuck behind slow moving, white knuckled drivers or the dreaded Harley Train....

Apparently, the new road is going to be painful for some. Rumour has it that they're putting in strips to keep the lanes separated:

My daughter went through there last Friday in her car. Only saw a few bikes and her video didn't show new pavement or dividers.
