Tablet help.

I am thinking on buying a tablet, I am just not sure what would work best for me. Basically it will be used for email, face book, games, videos (movies) I have a 1st gen itouch, and its in need of updating. I was thinking an Ipad2 or Asus Transformer, that or Motorola xoom. I am leaning to the android platform for flash. (for online games, vids etc) The Itouch works but its just in need of being replaced (not working properly all the time)
One question I have is can the androids be "jail broken" to access custom mods and so on. (Or something similar to jail breaking an ipad?)
Thanks

You can jailbreak androids not that there is a need to. I have a asus transformer prime and I love it. I use it with the doc as a computer replacement. I can't run good games on it like starcraft 2, but normal phones games run very good.

Used iPad2 for $350

There is no other choice.

I was sure you'd say the 3, with it's processing power to rival gaming consoles, and the pro-grade "retina" display for movies? That's what I'd point to.

Playbook. Best bang for the buck. Period.

2nd choice Transformer or Transformer Prime.

What do you want to spend?

From lowest cost to most expensive, you can't go wrong with any tablet based on what you said your needs were. Blackberry Playbook -> Asus Transformer (or any Android tablet really) -> iPad

Sure if he wants to drop $600 but as far as Im concerned the iPad2 is amazing value at $350 on the used market.

Can the Xoom be tethered to my blackberry for net access?

I like the ipads, but on my itouch it takes forever to install songs or videos. (if the vid's even work) But I like being able to dump a bunch of games on it. Honestly I am leaning towards android but I am not sure. I have been looking around the $500 or less mark for costs.

I've had difficulty tethering my 9900 to Android tablets, it's a real pain to get it to work.
It's native to the playbook though (keeping it all in the family, I guess).

for $500 you could get 3 playbooks at $149.99/each

Blackberry garbage has a tiny screen... Why limit yourself.

All about the playbook. I love mine. If I wanted to lug a around something with a bigger screen....I'd just use my laptop.

Yeah a 9-10" tablet is totally the same size as a laptop

For the price, the Playbook really is a steal. Anything more though and I'd go iPad. Android has yet to really make a dent in the tablet market

Never understood the advantage of a 7" tablet. It's still too big to put in the majority of pockets, requiring a bag of some kind. At that point, a 10" tablet will likely fit just fine.

Yep exactly. The screen is half the size of a 9-10" tablet but you still have to lug the device around separately. Lame.
