I am currently dealing with aging parents, and property in different countries.
Faced with a long train journey, I went into a bookshop and bought a book:solely to have something to read on a long train journey.
Titled : Close Quarter Battle. by some, supposedly brit SAS operative.

It was quite entertaining, right up to when he visited the Carlsberg Brewery in Copenhagen
Denmark.
Where he postulated, that the Carlsberg Brewery was built by the Nazis.

Sorry, but the Elephant statues, decorated with Swastikas, on each side of the Carlsberg Brewery Entrance, date back to 1847.
Long before the German National Socialist Party came to be.

Anyway I did some research, and found this.....

The Canadian Hockey team look good, wonder if much of the Canadian / American Swastikas exist today ??

Obviously I am talking about the 3000 years BEFORE the Swastika was adopted by the German National Socialist Party, and subsequently the Neo Nazis.

Friggin incredible that you have to spell everything out these days,so the hawk eyed PC nazis do not have anything to whine about, on behalf of people who were never offended in the first place.
OK It might not be so bad in Canada, but here in Europe, we have .....issues.

I thought this was common knowledge! Ive had a giant swastika on my bike for 3 years.

No wonder I get so many dirty looks!!!

Actually, it's probably a good thing that people get sensitive about a symbol that has such an awful connotations. Keeps it fresh in the mind and a nice warning about remembering society's past. 3000 years of scattered history and not-so-regular placement is easily erased by attempted genocide; not such a difficult concept to grasp.

**** the swastika and let it die.

wtf? What if someone adopts the symbol of the red cross as their party symbol for genocide? Then **** the red cross and it's current connotation?

Pretty foolish if you ask me. Tired of hearing the same old sad violen being played for that ****. Tons of tragedies happen around the world day in day out. The very jews who complained about the Holocaust are doing the same to the Palestinians right now. Sad really. Save your tears and memory for something deserving.

If the symbol gains overwhelming recognition for the genocide over anything else then yes, lose it.

Symbols are just that, and they change meaning over time. Right now the swastika is associated with nazism and no matter of highbrow intellectual rationalisation can change that overwhelming public perception. You don't have to like it, it's just the way it is.

Perception IS reality.

Yes, and perhaps some of the original natives of Canada might say the same about you and your flag

Guess you do not travel much, around Asia, because that whole Continent , still uses the Swastika, as a good luck symbol. Mebbe its the way it is, in your village, but do not pretend to be GLOBAL.

Yes, they also have different meanings in different places. Asia didn't get the same war news/propaganda as we got. Coincidence? Nope. Fact remains that it's a symbol of nazism in the West and you'd need a couple trillion dollars of advertising to make a dent in that perception.

Knew that long time. Adopted from the Hindus.

My friend has a few swastikas around his house because he's buddhist. I joked around that idea.
But I didnt call the police to say someone is a Nazi

??? The symbol was meant for peace. It DOES NOT belong to us or the Germans. It is only when the white man stole it and used it for evil. Knowledge of this symbol of peace will bring it back to it rightful place in history. What right it it for us to say what stays and what goes?

I don't know how anyone can say (or type ) "the white man" with a straight face...
and i am not even white.

There is a slight change!

The original Swastika looks like this:

and the Nazi's took out the dots and angled it a bit.

But that's not really used too often anymore, the Om symbol has a greater presence now in the Hindu religion.

Like someone already mentioned, swastika gained recognition in many (Eastern) European country specifically because of the Nazi Germany invasion and horrors that those murderers have done. If you'll have swastika on your car/bike in Eastern Europe, be prepared that you/your vehicle will be burned/stoned/etc.

Are you really saying the deaths of over ten million people during the holocaust, the attempted takeover of Europe, and the largest war to date with the highest number of casualties is not deserving of tears and memory?

I do not agree with the current Palestinian situation, but it in no way can be compared to the atrocities committed by the nazis

Ya ya you watched Shindlers List and read the diary of Ann Frank, horrible times I get it. What I can't stand is people throwing out figures like 10 million people were killed. Please show me the surveys that were done to substantiate this number. Every single day things that are equally repulsive as the holocaust happen. But because you didn't see it on CNN and it wasn't put in a movie for you written by XXXXberg you don't give two *****. Get real.

This is exactly why places such as Yad Vashem exist, to chronicle what happened for future generations, so these important historical events do not get lost in the murk of time. I'm guessing you think it was all a conspiracy theory, right? Something overblown by the jews and the liberal (jew run) media perhaps?

I care because my last name does end in a berg, and I have lost family members in the holocaust.

Atrocities happen every day, you're right, but it's rare that a single movement of events affects so many people throughout the world

no, things that are "equally" as repulsive as the holocaust does not happen "every single day".

If you watch the TOP GEAR India Special, they show this symbol on many of the scenes. Here is one from the train where they are carrying the food:

Symbols are just that, they have different meanings to different people in different times, cultures, etc. I can think of another symbol that's very closely associated with torture and execution and much more widespread than hakenkreuz. No points for guessing what it is.

While I agree that the numbers are probably overblown by a wide margin, and include just as many (and more) non-jews, you can't say that equally horrible **** happens every day. At least not by scale.
