Hello!

Next year I will be 20 and it will be 3 years since the 2 speeding tickets I got. When I was 16 I insured a 250 ninja for a year and then the following year a cbr600 F4I both through facility. I now realize I somehow lucked out and got a very oddly cheap rate with facility for the CBR and that most likely won't happen again from what I've read on here.

I don't really want to downgrade all the way to a 250 but I would consider the Suzuki SV 650.

So being 20, having my G (1 year) and M2 for 3 years, no tickets/accidents would I have any luck at a reasonable price to insure a SV650? Is it considered a super sport bike to companies or just a sport bike? Am I SOL?

Thanks for any help!

The sv650 is considered 'sport touring' instead of 'sport' which would bump the premium up a lot.

Funny that you consider the sv650 a downgrade, lol. Unless you're going to the track it will most likely be an upgrade compared to the 600 for town riding and what not. Low end power like you will not believe.

sv650 is a downgrade from f4i.....

OP the sv IS a lot cheaper to insure than a sport bike... like mine my r6 premium cost $2500 whereas sv cost $1800 21 clean record GM license

no where the 650 is going to win 0-100kph with the f4i, i think the sv even needs to change gear to 2nd in order to achieve 100kph so it's not possible 650 is an upgrade. Not speed. But comfort wise, it is an upgrade.

Elton, are you insured with statefarm? If so, the thing is I won't be able to qualify for statefarm as next year I will have only held my G class license for 4 years, and correct me if I'm wrong but they want 5... or even 6? Unless things have changed recently...

Is there anyone between the age of 16 - 20 living in the GTA area been able to successfully insure a SV650? Jevco maybe? Some of you may say just call an agent but the thing is im not 20 til next year and I still got a bit to wait until the tickets are off my record for insurance purposes so I don't think its really reasonable for me to call for a quote.

PS, you can always PM me if you don't want to post publicly

There is more to a motorcycle then 0-100kph... If thats all you care about then sure, a supersport is an upgrade.

$2500 for a supersport for a 21 year old seems cheap, is that just liability?

I was getting quoted something like 1200ish for a suzuki gladius (sv650 basically) through Jevco, and I live downtown (2 tickets, 25, G license 5+ years).

Getting rid of the f4i for an SV/Gladius mainly because I'm using half the power on the cbr and my lower back is killing me most days that i ride it.

hi no im not with SF, I only had 4 years of G class experience but this is just a small issue they wont check say if you say you have 5 in mistake... just saying

im with facility atm, jevco won't insure SS bikes. But I am sure 21 is the gap insurance premium drops as well as 25. I just checked again on john duffy, 21 with sv650 will cost $1800 liability only. when I was 20 my ninja 250 cost $1800 liability so you are better off waiting one extra year...

btw some insurance dont check your address or age like they just ask...

check your quote here assuming you are not going with SF combined with your car.

That's called fraud and if they find out that will never end well. Better off disclosing the truth.

The SV650 is not considered a sport model with Jevco. The two tickets also don't play a factor in their rating (as long as it's just two) - so we are left with your age and CC's as the determining price variables. I did a rough quote for liability only at $2600.

Awesome! For me I would consider $2600 to be reasonable too and I would only be looking at liability. One of my tickets is just a minor 16 over while the other one is the real problem, 60 over!!!! That's what is putting me in the "high risk" category where no one will insurance me basically. It will be 3 years since both the tickets next year so I'll have to wait til then. Looks like Jevco will be an option then... Thanks!
