SV 650; preload adjustment ?

On a second gen Suzuki SV650, could the preload adjustment on the rear shock be adjusted to lower the seat height/rear of the bike? Is that recommended or is that not designed for lowering the bike itself in general?

I want to maybe lower it maybe 3/4 to an inch. I have been reading on SV forums, but dont understand why people that when they installed lowering links, they will also loosen the front triple clamps and push down the bars to lower the front handlebars by about 1/2 an inch as well. Is there a reason why...People usually raise the front handlebars when lowering to prevent the bar to come contact with the tank.

If you only lower the rear of the bike, you end up increasing the rake of the forks, which leads to slower steering. It also slants the seat in a way that could be uncomfortable.

does the stock sv rear shocks perform poorly? i see many sv forum owners also did the upgrade to other model bike's rear shock? any issue or concerns with the stock sv shocks?

its too soft and mushy.

i upgraded to a kawi 636 shock, some do gsxr shocks. a suspension upgrade for $50, you cant go wrong. i cant afford penske or ohlins so its a good alternative.
