I am in between Suzuki boulevard m90 and Honda Stryker. Which should I buy??
This is going to be my first bike and I feel like both of them are pretty close in specs but I need some help from all of you here to help me decide.

You probably meant Yamaha Stryker...

Both are in the 'muscle cruiser' category. You might be able to find a better kijiji deal for the Suzuki M90. Probably more likely to find saddlebags with the Suzuki as well. The Suzuki is 75lbs heavier (2019 model at least).

At 650lbs/723lbs, these motorcycles may not be suitable as a first motorcycle. Maybe if you are 6'6/250lbs, and just wouldn't fit on a smaller bike, LoL

Despite being in the cruiser category, at 1400/1300CCs, you'd most likely get a prohibitive insurance quote if you are newly M licensed.

I'm on a Vulcan 900 as my first bike and at that weight I'm not sure I would want a bigger engine. For a new rider I am very comfortable having grown up on bikes, but never had my own. A 1500 CC cruiser may be a bit much for a new rider.

You're probably better off on a Boulevard M50 for your first bike (probably for insurance too), also cruisers usually have low centre of gravity so the weight isn't as bad as it seems on paper.

First bike -- M90 is too much, so is an M50. Take a year or two on a small cruiser your time and learn on something that's a little less expensive, easier to handle and more likely to survive a small mishap.

Read this First accident thread. Fellow bought a shiny new M50, tipped it over only to find the hardly visible damage ended up being a writeoff.

A 250 Rebel, VStar will cost you $2500 or less for a nice used specimen. Insurance will be 1/2 the cost. Once you master the small bike, sell it for what it cost you then step yo to a midweight.

Good advice. I will add that many riders believe they have "mastered" their starter bike in 1000 km. Those riders quickly become statistics on a more powerful bike as they have the wrong attitude. Putting 10,000+ km on in a year or two is simple and you will still be learning every time you take the bike out.

I’d buy the Stryker just because I feel Yamaha’s build quality is significantly higher then Suzuki’s. I’m kind of a Yamaha fan boy though so I could be biased.

Sit on them both though. You may not love forward controls (foot peg placement) and the Yamaha seems pretty aggressive in that area.
