Supermoto suggestions

Hi, Planning to sell my bike to buy a supermoto. What are some good supermoto's to buy under $5k? used.
I want to be able to use it on the streets. The reason being I heard insurance is dirt cheap on these things. A friend of mine pays $150/yr, while i'm paying that much in a month.

Are all supermoto/ dual sports listed as a dirt bike when insuring?

Cheers,

If you're paying $150 per month on an FZR, you're going to pay that much on an SM.

Nah the SM is cheaper. For some reason the FZR400 costs almost as much as 600 to insure these days. My quotes that I got for an FZR400 were all $1100-$1400. The quotes I got for a 2009 ZX6R/R6/GSXR/CBR were all $1400-$1500. With TD meloche monexx the FZR600 was cheaper than 400 at about $800/yr to insure. A DRZ400 was $455.

It depends where .... State Farm will be identical, because they go by cc, others might vary as you suggested.

statefarm fell into that range still when I got quoted. The disparity in price between 400 and 600 isn't huge with SF either.

I would recommend a DRZ as a street supermoto, exceeds at nothing but does everything well.

Insurance on my DRZ is under $50 a month. I was paying $80 for the same coverage on an R6.
