Sunday Evening on the 401 Thru Toronto

We were driving west across the top of Toronto on the 401 on Sunday evening around 9 pm. We watched 6 sport bikes going lane to lane going thru traffic riding like complete lunatics. Those riders give everyone on a sport bike a bad reputation. Doing more to piss off the car drivers is only going to increase calls for more police patrols and heavier enforcement against sport bikes.

These 6 idiots rode dangerously with next to no regard for their own safety and that of their passengers. Maybe ok if they were in full leathers, boots, etc. but these yahoos were in shorts and t shirts! One of the passengers was in flip flops! :sad1:

How can anyone be so stupid?

that's how you're supposed to ride sport bikes.........duh
if they wanted to ride in the incorrect blocking position at the speed limit then they'd buy Harleys wouldn't they

oh yeah the flip flops help prevent your feet from smelling like rotten cheese :snorting:

Absolutely. If only they had on their leathers, boots, etc, they wouldn't be hurt when they slam into that cement wall, the rear of a truck, and/or slide under the wheels of a car when they go down on a busy 401. Sure thing that.

may be they were a bunch of squids! It sucks how good riders get bad reputation because of these losers.

Oh no.... the horror of it all!! SS riders doing maniac things on a major freeway!! noooooooo........

I have one even better. I'm driving on the 401 and i notice a group of riders coming up from behind. I cant throw stones cuz i dont stay in the same lane for very long when filtering thru traffic is an option. These guys however were across every lane, not in any kind of formation, just all over the place and unpredictable with awkward looking wobbly lane changes. They had vests but i didnt recognize the patch. The topper is that they were being followed by their homies in a truck with a massive trailer who was doing his damndest to keep up to his boys. In doing this, he didnt cut me off (in my car) he actually drove his trailer into the side of me forcing me to swerve onto the shoulder and slam on the brakes. Needless to say i got up beside him to flip the bird and he just waved. *** clowns. If you're on this board..check yourselves before u wreck your selves.

O.k, I understand that people behaving like that strikes a chord with a lot of riders here including me, and I can't for the life of me figure how they can ignorantly act like in moving traffic. However what is posting things like that here really doing? Awareness? I think most of us know that their are people out there that do this stuff. We are also aware of what could happen to these people and all the people around them. What difference does it really make to you. It a fact that you can't make people wear their gear, its a fact that you can't force someone to drive/ride the way you think they should or to follow the rules of the road the way everyone is supposed to. The solution is you should become a cop. In fact I'd love it if some people here were cops. My point is why complain about others when all you can do is look out for yourself. I read things here about how this is only going to get the cops on our collective *****, how so? If you are posting things on this forum about how you saw people without gear or how they were riding then you must be a perfect example of how to ride and therefore have nothing to worry about when it come to the police and your riding habbits. People who do stupid things on a regular basis will get stung by their actions eventually. Let it happen and its no skin of your back (its more then likely skin off their backs and arms and hands and legs). Watch out for yourself and you will benifit far greater then complaining about others. Either that or someone here should get the ball rolling on getting atgatt law. I know its hard. I see stupid things on the road all the time and yes it has made me furious at times, but it ends there because there is nothing I can do to actually make it right other then getting a badge and getting out there and bust these people.

I was heading east around 8:30 and I bet it was the same 6 guys who passed me. I could care less what others do or how they ride, except in this case I was in the fast lane, doing appropriate speed for the lane, when I saw the lights in my mirrors....before I could react the first a-hole with his ICON BP blew by me in my own lane on my left. I had to resist the urge to throw my elbow out, but next time I might just do that. I moved a bit left to stop his buddies from doing the same .. then the next a-hole started creeping up on my right, again in my lane. I blocked him and forced him to change lanes.

Ride how you want, do what you want...drive the wrong way down the highway if you want, I could care less if you kill yourselves, but don't pass me in my own lane or put me in danger, I don't if you're in a car, a bike, a bus or a truck, if you a-holes try that crap and I see you I will block you, I don't care if you have to veer into the shoulder.

Now having said that, if the first a-hole simply flashed his highbeam, I would have gladly changed lanes safely and let him by safe and legal way. And as mentioned I was doing appropriate speed for the fast lane, but one can't react fast enough when a group of idiots is doing 180K+ weaving and lane splitting down the 401.

haha I was at Yorkdale mall, just parked my car to go into the theatre and I heard and saw 5-6 bikes zoom by on the 401 EB; it must've been the same guys.

oh well, hope they had fun.

OP/T~Bone: You should be happy, you had the best seat in the house (as a moving pylon) for Torontos newest Macdonald-Cartier MotoGP races. That being said, next time atleast have the decency to give them a thumbs up as they pass for being sponsored by Icon. Represent, booooyakasha!

Any good passes in the corners? oh wait.... forget it, that's the Don Valley Race/Park way races next weekend that have corners.
