Never been to Sudbury before and thinking of heading out that way for a ride. Anyone recommend and area and accommodations. I would rather stay within walking distance of a pub for that post ride experience.

Not sure how much you want to spend. I've stayed here a couple of times;

Hampton Inn Sudbury, Ontario
2280 Regent Street, Sudbury, Ontario, Canada P3E 0B4
Tel: 1-705-523-5200 Fax: 1-705-523-5209

Newer place that is clean and nice setup with breakfast included. It's not downtown but closer to the highway.

Try the Travelodge near Laurentian (offered a discount for 'parents and family' of LU students, forget what they require as proof though), one of the newer places that you will find:

http://www.travelodge.com/Travelodge/control/Booking/property_info?propertyId=09669&brandInfo=TL

Other option would be the HI:

Either will be about a $10-$15 cab ride from downtown. Would recommend to go to Peddlers Pub if you want more of a bar to go to or SRO is just across the street if you are looking for more of a lounge/club (and I use the term club loosely).

Would agree with the Holiday Inn. Nice hotel, always used to stay there when on business.

I stayed at the Super 8 nearby at Long Lake a couple of weeks ago. It's not the Waldorf but they have a bikers discount. Walk across the parking lot to a pub, unfortunately we had a lousy waitress.

I am interested to know that how much can you afford. If you have a good budget then you have to
wait a little while, coz I will provide you some patent info on this saturday. Hope you will be fine.
regards

I live in Sudbury. PM me with your price ceiling and what you are thinking of, and I'll help where I can. Unfortunately, the hotels recommended above are not "walking" distance to anything close to a decent pub, unless you want to party at Perkins... ;)

There is the Cardinal Inn at the "south end" of Sudbury that is right next to "1500 Pub", a local hangout. I haven't stayed at, or been in the Cardinal in years, so I can't tell you the quality of the stay.

And there is a Days Inn downtown Sudbury. I don't know prices for either the Cardinal or Days Inn.

Hello friends, I have never been to Sudbury. What kind of it is? Any one of you visit this ever. Please tell me about Sudbury something is there an good lace to buy apartments or houses.

I escaped from Sudbury after working almost 3 years there. The only thing good about Sudbury, is leaving it. The roads are in terrible shape, in fact I had to trade a brand new Ford Focus in for a truck because the suspension broke twice! Winter is 6 months long and the people are as mean as they come. You get to watch the world's biggest smoke stack (1300ft high) pollute 24/7 365 from anywhere. Sad sad place indeed. You can get a house pretty cheap but then your stuck with it cause who the hell wants to live there anyway.

Quality Inn is close to all the hookers under the Paris St Bridge.

Any of the hotels in the south end - Homewood suites is new, Quality Inn, Super 8. I suggest you stay in that area as it's central to whichever route you've decided on and there are pubs/bars/nightclubs in the vicinity within walking distance. Do not stay at the seedy hotel/motel at the intersection of Paris and Regent... don't recall the name.

Do a day tour around the French River area via Hwy 17 East. Gorgeous country and watch for moose. If you have time head to Manitoulin for a leisurely days ride - very little traffic overall, especially on the less-travelled roads. Watch out for the deer.

Enjoy!
