Took my bike in a few weeks back to Studio Cycle because I noticed one of the forks had oil leaking all down the side. While I was there I talked to the mechanic about what I thought might be excessive top end noise. He said GS500's are known for having the valves go out of spec pretty frequently. I had no idea when/if they'd ever been done, so I got him to do that too.
The bike is back now, been riding for a few days, I'm very happy with the result. The front forks feel great. I'm glad I got him to check it the valves too - apparently it was not just out of sync from wear, whoever did the work before screwed it up big time. Bike is way quieter now, and I can feel the difference when I twist the throttle.
Staff was friendly and helpful, and the mechanic (wish I could remember names) found a lot of stuff I that I knew about and just didn't mention, and a bunch of other things I was unaware of. I feel like he really took the time to look over the bike and make sure everything is in order. Thankfully, the big issues are fixed now and the rest are are all minor, so I'm back on the road.
