Cant help u out but i can bump the thread. Make and model of the bike might help get u the plug, and kind of oil could help too. Goodluck bud

It's a ural but seems to take a standard car sized if really... Debating using my spare spark plug in a pinch. Oil is 20w50 but will take any oil type just to get off hwy

Getting flatbed tow truck. Engine is dead. Tried new oil and made a drain plug. Engine wrecked. Woh wading home soon

That's terrible luck. Are there actually any Ural mechanics out there? Or can you jerry rig something from an old BMW?

It's a very simple motorcycle, so it doesn't need someone Ural specific. That said, I've taken the valve covers off, looked inside the sparkplug holes this morning. Not much to see, but nothing is moving. Definitely fused somewhere inside. Next step will be taking the jugs off (it's a boxer style engine... think BMW). Maybe it'll just be piston rings, but doubtful. Will have to look at any scoring or damage inside and start making a shopping list.

I've always wanted a Ural.

Did you cut the engine and pull over before your oil light came on?

No, there isn't an oil light, just a speedometer basically, as well as a neutral light and the turn signals, highbeam, and alternator/charge light.

One thing I will say about the ruggedness of it, based on when I first thought I felt drops hitting my face from the car ahead (thought someone was using washer fluid on their car and I was gettingg the spray), I basically drove for 8kms on an air cooled engine running at its top speed. I'm rather impressed it lasted as long as it did, but nevertheless, it has seized

Also, had my helmet on the ground for the 2.5 hours I was on the side of the road. 32 motorcycles over that time drove by. Not even a wave. Not making a statement one way or the other, just an observation.

Taking the cylinder jugs off today, looks like the internals are completely scored out inside, pistons appear damaged, etc

Sorry to hear of your bike dying. Did you call CAA ? They normally respond within 30mins if its a highway situation for safety's sake. Maybe a flatbed was not readily available?

Didn't have CAA, nor a credit card, just cash. Called a few of the tow truck places in the area and they weren't running flatbeds at that time of night or day of the week. Yes, this is really what I was told by some (and while I believe it, I know some here will doubt it). Ended up calling one in the Ajax area who happened to be heading down Brock St in Whitby towards Ajax, so timing was good. It was $90 to put it on the rig, and $2.50 a km after that. Thankfully I live in Oshawa and Salem Rd isn't too far away.
