I need a STRONG rattle can glossy black. Dont't really care how good it looks. I tried the thermclad proffesional and my nail can easily go through it.

Any good hidden gems? John Deere? Sometractor supply store?

are you prepping before spraying the main coat down?

IE a primer or surface prep?

are you doing several coats?

My first bike i did canadian tire auto spray paint and did about 5 coats of metallic black plus a clear - didn't look great cuz i didn't sand the coats but it was strong.

Due to lack of hardener in the spray cans, they require considerably longer to dry and cure and are not as durable.

You'd def need to go to a two stage paint job if you want harder/durable paint.

YUP no such thing as strong rattle can good for lawn furniture not bikes IMO

Oke, let me rephrase, in your experience what is the strongest glossy black paint you know of? It's going on top of brushrd on por15 for UV protection only.

"Wurth" Satin or Gloss Black will do the trick. It's the OEM paint for different wheels supplied to some European OEMs. You should be able to pick it up at the walk in counter at the distribution centre on Tomken Rd. in Mississauga/Brampton (or you used to be able to). Check it out.

I checked back on my thermclad paint job and it seems to be acceptable now. It scratched easily after three days, but it seems to have hardened much more after two weeks.

thx, wurth has some good stuff.

another option is to get a Preval sprayer, they are little disposable aerisol units with a glass jar. You can buy them at most paint stores, auto shops and some home depots.
Then you can spray any paint you like and the finish is very good. They even spray thicker product like gel coat with good result.

Strong and rattle can have no place in the same sentence. buy a cheap spray gun and get some ss urethane. cheaper than can too, a 70$ gallon sprayed 4 bikes and a trailer.

Cummins engine paint great coverage and good gloss available from most heavy duty truck dealers that sell cummins stuff!

Canadian Tire, or similar and look for Appliance Epoxy Paint, comes in a rattle can, stuff is not bad and holds up well....

now I am using POR15, but unless the part is exposed to constant UV conditions, it should not change color, at least that is what I read on their site....

.

BS.

I used por15 silver to coat inside my Civics trunk and around the hatch area. Even areas that never saw sunlight unless i lifted a cover off started to discolor and turn a greenish tint.

i have heard that DupliColour wheel paint is great for bikes , i personally have not tried it yet . I have tried the por15 CHASSISCOAT on my subframe , and it has held up very good . no colour change . I sandblasted the subframe first then brushed it on . its one tough paint as well as a few ounces go a long way ..
