Stripped screw

I just recently bought a Gsxr and was interested to see the battery today. I took one screw off so then I went to the next side. Of course it's stripped. I have over 200 screw heads from philips, alan, torx and so on. I tried all that fit and no luck. I tried to put a rubber band between the screw and head still nothing.

I need to access the battery for winterization purposes. I'm also going to check out CT for kits or whatever they have for screw extraction.

Any one got tips before I go out and buy one? If not any one have a brand or kit they could recommend. It's really bad it's like a perfect circle.

Try using pliers if it is a bolt (doubt screws are used on batteries)

Sears Craftsman make a little 3-piece kit called "Screw Out"....and it works mint (talking from experience here)

I forget how much it costs....thinking something like $29....which seems expensive for 3 little bits in a tiny plastic case....but the things work and are a must for every tool box imo

Sorry it's the screw to remove the seat.

Ok I'll look into the sears product.

Shameless plug Paulo :lmao:

OP - get a dremmel, and make a slot for a standard screw driver.
The seat screws are short, and require very little torque - should come out easy.

lol, I guess it was

any auto store has a drill bit called "ez out" or something like that, Its like $3.
You drill a small hole into the screw or bolt and the "ez out" is a reverse drill bit and you stick it in the hole and turn the way the screw comes out.

It works awesome and is cheaper then the other set.

hate to be an arse, but shouldn't this be in technical?

Worth trying vice-grips first... set it so that it's _almost_ impossible to clamp - once it has a real tight grip then try to slowly unscrew.

No room to get a vice grip in there, the screw is sunk in the tank fairings...
OP, let me know which method was successful, I've got my own stripped screw.

I had the same thing with the same screw. I didn't know of these kits so I drilled it out.

This worked good but expensive for two heads. It's a must for all tool boxes.

Either screw driver or drill. One side is for drilling CW and once you have the screw smoothened out go CCW With the other side(the thread side). It should bite, I also used vice grips on the screwdriver for more torque and went slow. I suggest using a screwdriver for the extraction and drill to smoothen.

Good luck
