Story of a fallen rider (2/22/2014 Australia)

Very sad story indeed.

It will not stop me from riding. I ride because I love it. Yes, It is dangerous. Perhaps that is part of the appeal.

One day your number might be up. Maybe tomorrow, maybe next week, maybe never. It is the risk we take as riders.

Every year riders get killed on the road, and on the track. It is unfortunate, but you can't look at only the negatives and forget the positives.

Look at all the charities rides that raise money for to help improve others lives. The friends you meet through riding. The experiences you have and the stories you are able to tell. The smile on a riders face after a great ride.

Whether the risk is worth the reward is up to you. I for one believe it is.

Thats a sad story and happens all to often. As we are all aware it's only a few months until our own fallen section will get active.
I hope and pray I'm wrong but I don't think I am. From left turn cagers to just wrong place at the wrong time to stupid mistakes, they happen. In a perfect world we would hope that that particular thread would get less attention every year as we learn but tragically it won't.
As sad as it is we can all learn from tragic events like these. Learn your bike practise with your bike, take a training course with your bike. The better we know our bikes maybe the better the chance of avoiding situ rains that can have tragic a ending.
The most important thing for me is that I always get home. As much as I love the ride I love to get home and spend time with my family more.

My prayers and condolences to the riders family.
