Not sure where else to post this. But my friend's 1199 was stolen from a condo garage today near King/River.

If anyone hears anything....

And as a reminder, keep your bikes safe! Locks, alarms, covers... Not perfect but at least it's a deterrent.

Damn, that sucks. Always with the condo parking....

****, sorry, I thought it was a Zipcar bike so I borrowed it for a ride......

When will anyone smarten up and put some GPS tracker on their bike to find these theifs and bash their heads in

How will that help if they have signal jammers and GPS is useless soon as you get into a garage? I think it's great if bikes have them but I also think it provides a false sense of security as it's easily thwarted by available tech, and the main issue of GPS that it needs to be visible from the sky for a signal to reach.

OP sorry bout your bud's bike. Hope insurance treats him well.

likely
pro bike thieves, they paid $20 for jammers
sad to hear but they will likely come back in another 45 days when he gets a replacement

It was chained, covered, alarmed.
Took the extra precautions after his last bike was stolen from the same spot (I know I know, you don't have to tell me).

So what precautions can you take if you must park in a condo?
And why aren't there ever any cameras in condo garages?

I almost guarantee you security was in on it.

cameras don't stop them either...they use stolen cars/plates and hide their faces

He is SOL, park it at storage site or at friend's garage.
Two bikes stolen already, insurance might drop him now.

Got 1st bike stolen... Replaces with a panigale. Seems like he learnt nothing

Thats really ******.. So they chopped the chain, removed the covers, and ignored the alarms? Damn they really wanted it badly.

And simple solution, dont get a panigale lol. Get a 10 year old supersport if you must, losing a 5000 dollar bike doesnt hurt as much

and im convinced that parking on the street is much safer these days. Ive seen 2011+ gxsrs, daytonas, brand new r6s parked in front of houses everyday i pass them

A few condos in Toronto have private garages underground (big concrete bunker with rows of garage doors). It is space inefficient though so it rarely happens. Sadly owning good toys and living in condos may be mutually exclusive.

That theft just cost every motorcyclist in Ontario $0.09.

Buy an older less desirable bike, maybe a 10 year old SS (might still be at risk, might need to be beat up a bit) or a cruiser. If you must have the latest and greatest, move out of the condo into a house or town house with a private garage.
