Stick with G2, or get G license? (Motorcycle Insurance )

Hi there,

would anybody happen to know if having your G license would substancially lower your Motorcycle insurance? I'm trying to figure out whether I should get my motorcycle insured now, or wait and get my G license.

Yep, only SF does that

The sooner you are insured, the longer you have been continuously insured... and that is what will lower your rates the most!

Think about May the season you buy a new bike.... if you get insured now, that whole year will be cheaper. Plus, the weather is a changin' - Riding season is going to be here any second! :)

Get your G license, I got mine the second I was able to, now have had it for a really long time... well feels like it anyways. Riding season is already here for some as long as the weather co-operates of course.

It can never hurt to be overly - licensed. A full G will help to ensure you're safer on the road. I had mine for about 7 years before the M2, like Doomed, I got mine ASAP. Might as well, and not have to worry about an expiring G2 (you start back at G1).

My two cents. :)

Get out of that novice driver scene asap! There are better perks having the full license.

like not having to worry about it expiring and having to go back to a basic license...

That happened to me. Pain in the a**. No waiting period but such a hassle. I don't think it makes much of a difference on insurance though - not until you have the 5 stars under your picture for having you full G for 5 years. If you ever want to get a job that involves/requires driving you'd need that.

No, insurance is significantly lowered by age (25+) and years carried license. You are better off getting it sooner than later, though.

Think long term - the longer you have a G license, the cheaper your insurance becomes.
