As most of us know that if you have full car insurance then you can use that insurance on car rental as well. Thing is I don't own a car, so I called SF asking whether I could use my full bike insurance on car rentals. This is what my agent reply was

"No, you cannot use your motorbike insurance on car because on a vehicle you should be able to carry one passenger which is not possible on bike". I was like well my bike has two seats and I have had a passenger in the past.

Agent simply said that is what the books says.

Then I asked if I was involved in an accident, would I be provided with a rental car.

Agent reply to that was "You are covered for everything except car rental"...

Please advice as this is all new to me and share your experience if you have made a claim with SF in the past.

Thanks

Rental vehicle is an extra on your insurance.
When my bike was backed into they said they had to check to see if I had that on my policy and I did but I took the cash payout so I didn't get to use it.

Read over your policy and see if it is included in it. By the sounds of it you don't have it on your policy.

Agreed! I will look into it. But isn't the point of full insurance is that all the essential's are covered.

You can have full coverage with a $0 deductible or $1000 deductible.... It all depends on what you left out or lowered/raised to cut costs.
