StateFarm 5 or 6 years with G?

It seems most brokers say you need your G class for 6 years but some say 5 years... Has anyone here with their G class for 5 years get insured with SF recently, and what broker did you go through?

For example I phoned Greg Lewis State Farm because TAFB (hpvchewy) recommended them and I got a mixed answer. Greg was going to give me a quote and said it was 5 years to qualify (which I will have next year), he asked if I could call him back and the when I called this woman picked up because he was busy and she said it was 6 years to qualify!

Seems like it depends on the insurance company.

It was 5 years with Seamus Kelly on this forum.

when you say G class, do you mean 5 years or 6 years for full G alone or 5 years combined for G1, G2 and G. does anyone have any idea about it.

5.

The reason most don't give quotes is because the figures are astronomical compared to 6years (may not exactly be true).

Found this in an old thread about State Farm's different "Plans"

If you're in A plan, a minor ticket usually doesn't affect anything but two could have you moved to B plan. New business can't be A plan if you have any tickets in the last 3 years or at-fault accidents in the last 6 years. You must have a full G license and six years of driving experience to be in A plan. You can't have a motorcycle in A plan unless you have a car with SF and your household meets the A plan eligibility requirements I just mentioned.

For those that have stand-alone bike policies with SF, you are in B plan.

So I can't have a motorcycle only in "Plan A" anyway unless I insure a car with them too.

I called Seamus Kelly's office and they said above 4 years, so 5+, they also gave me the best suggested rates so far as I have compared with over a dozen of other companies/brokers. I remember someone mentioning you should buy a winter beater, insure it for a month then remove it and you will have the combined vehicle discount stay on.

Called him today, got my best quote on a supersport yet, but still around $3500/year for full coverage which I'm not willing to pay just yet. So I guess I'm sticking with TD next season unless my financial situation drastically changes in a few months.

Confirmed, it's 5 years from G1. Also, one State Farm Agent suggested to me that if you want to get your bike on the A plan, insure a car and then switch it to Theft coverage only (very cheap). The bike will stay on the A plan regardless of the coverage you have on your car. My R6 with State Farm is ~$5000 on the B plan, and is now $1700 on the A plan ( I insure by car on road coverage with SF, this is just to illustrate the significant difference between A and B plan).

Now that's very interesting...

Your motorcycle looks like a frog with a tongue sticking out O: What is it, 90s FZR?

I've only had my G for a few months but I was quoted at $1800 for an 01 R6, clean record and 7 years of clean driving. I am waiting until May when I am 25 to see if rate drops but also got two speed tickets currently being fought in court rate will likely increase premiums. I probably got to wait another 3 years to get a 600cc now ~.~ Currently paying $617/year for a 3000km 07 CBR125R (1500km when I first insured)

Btw here is their discount system.

Well I just got off the phone with a State Farm agent as I was getting a quote and I asked abouyt the confusion as to 5 or 6 years. This is what I was told...

For State Farm it is 6 years as a licence G driver for your auto policies and 5 years for M for your bike policy. This is COMBINED time with that licence, including the waiting periods for G1 G2 and M1 M2...

Didn't matter for me as I have held the licences for 33 years..lol

But how much are you paying with both combined?
Bike+ car with theft only

I can only say my bike 2010 Yamaha Road Star 1700 with just the bike at state farm was $1942 per year when I added my other vehicles, (pick up and car), as well as $30,000 contents it dropped to $1160 per year. Now I have FULL coverage on the bike and the 2009 car, the truck (95), is liability only.

One of my pet peeve is saying they saved insurance on bike by switch their car and home but never states total savings

Ei. Bike at sf is 2,000/year
Car and home at td is 3,000/year and 700/year respectively.
Total annual spending is $5,700

Then they say switch all to sf
Pays 1,200/year on bike
But doesn't say that he/she pays 4,500 on car and 1,400 for home.
Total annual spending is $7,100

Makes perfect sense.

I can't give the exact break down by vehicle as the figures are at home but I had

2010 Yamaha road star 1700
2009 Pontiac G6
1995 Ford F150, (Liability only)

My renewal is 26 Feb, Desjardin whom I have been with for four years now renewal was an even $5000, or $416 per month

Now the quote with State Farm, (adding a $30,000 contents insurance, similiar to tenants insurance). The total quote is
$3120 per year or $258 per month MOST of that savings is, ($1600 per year), on the bike alone.
