Hey!
Need some information, if somebody knows...

My car insurance with State Farm is just ridiculous high! And it is growing each month. Each next month they put higher per-month payment plus policy changes fee:mad:
Now I even consider to stop driving at all.

So, here are the questions:
  • What forms the premium amount they are asking?
  • If they sent me an per-half-year quote why do they rise it each month?
  • Even if they rising the cost each month, why do they charge for the past months changes?
  • Is it legal from their side to change the contract quote in the middle of the contract period?
Thanks for advices!

I found that state farm had one of the highest rates when i was looking for new insurance about a month ago.
Give kanetix.ca a try and see what you come up with.
I was insured with bel air direct for almost 4 years, then this renewal they upped my insurance almost 30%. I shopped around and i was able to get insurance for 30% LESS then what i was paying before the hike state farm offered.

How old are you and hows your record
what college or university did u graduate from, i ask because for certain ones you can get a group discount

Thanks!
That looks much better on some of them!

Then the other question:
Can I interrupt the SF insurance in case they did increase in the middle of contract?

Thanks!

State Farm auto policies renew every six months so that is the only time you should see any rate changes. There are no policy change fees.

Have you made any changes in coverages, changed vehicles mid-term, removed other policies that would impact your auto discounts, or added drivers to the policy?

Nop, there were no changes from my side.
SF did send me the offer in August for the next half an year, which was a bit high, but I was too busy and payed that rate in September.
The October bill has an increase more than 15% in compare with September, plus changes charges, which turns the monthly payment too high. I just even have no possibilities to pay it.

As far as changes have been initiated by SF after in the middle of the half-an-year, I consider this agreement has been interupted. I would never agree for the amount which they want now. I also informed my agent about that.

Did your agent review your bill and explain what you're being charged extra for?

Bear in mind that the date your auto renews takes place and the date that you make your monthly payments are not always the same date. so your policy may have renewed at a higher amount mid-September but if you pay your insurance at the beginning of the month, you may owe for a partial month as a one-time extra payment on your October bill. HTH.

Nope. I was asking my agent since march about last increas, and once I received the offer in August. He tels me each time, that he did submit the request, but has no reply yet.

My agreement starts on September 25 till March 25. I cannot agree to any rate changes, which have not been discussed with me in advance.
Everything is simple. They offered a price on certain terms - I agree. They decided to change the terms - sorry - the agreement becomes interrupted at that moment. If they think that my condition did change somehow, they have first to notify me, and discuss it with me.

I was talking to some my coworkers who is insured with SF. They say the same thing, SF changes rates without notifying. Well, if the change is about dozen bucks per month, I guess, nobody will even bother about. But when SF changes the permonth payment for more than 100$ - it is not acceptable noway!

Your policy may increase on renewal but beyond that, monthly rates aren't randomly increased with no explanation. When your policy increases or decreases on renewal, you will get that in the mail usually 4-6 weeks in advance of the renewal date so that IS your notice that your premium is changing.

When you look at your bill, at the top you will see an itemized list of all policies on the account, and a subtotal. Then in the middle there will be an indication of any policy changes and premium adjustment, either charges or credits, and then the total at the bottom. Rates don't change for no reason and insurance is heavily regulated so you can't simply be charged extra with no accompanying explanation. I would call your agent and ask for further clarification .

State Farm wanted more for my '03 Escape alone than what I pay for both it, my bike, and my homeowners insurance through Johnson Inc. and Primmum combined. I.e., State Farm is whacked in their pricing. Go elsewhere.

I called John Duffy Insurance yesterday because my SF policy on my Duc is up next month. Up till yesterday, I thought I was paying a "fair" amount on the bike but was quotes a thousand dollars less ($1000) from John Duffy Insurance. Some insurers take different things into consideration than others when calculating their rates.

Lesson learned? It pays to shop around.

I left statefarm 2 years ago because of their price for auto insurance.
I stopped by the statefarm office today to see if they could do any better on the pricing.
I still have the same car I did back then and they want 2400$ to insure it, without collision.
Right now I pay around 1300$ a year for my car.
You are right, StateFarm has crazy prices for car insurance.

Don't you think I'm so stupid to not to understand simple things?!!?:confused1:

Sorry if you thought that, but I get daily phone calls from people who can't seem to understand their bills, or perhaps can't be bothered to read them, so that's the standard answer I give.
