There have been a few times staples advertise specials on there web site. and there have been a few times i ordered from them to find out they will not honor the advertisement they have posted.

on the 24th of dec i ordered a playbook and a $200 gift card as the ad posted leaving me to pay $248 on delivery. on the 27th i got a e-mail saying they won't honor the ad as it was a misprint.

i called to confirm the price and ad on the 24th to make sure and they gave a confirmation #. what can be done to make this company come good for the ad they run.

Post it everywhere you can and peer pressure them into it. Otherwise, really nothing thats worth your while.

Report it to the BBB!

You tried to scam them as you clearly knew the situation was to good to be true. Although i'm not a big fan of major discount stores and always try to support the little guy you have to give some people leeway for mistakes. I would say that somewhere there is a clause that states in fact here it is:

All information contained herein is believed by Staples to be accurate and reliable. Because of the possibility of human and mechanical error as well as other factors, Staples is not responsible for any errors or omissions, either its own or its information providers'. how did i try to scam them? IMO it is staples scamming to get people in there store.

also if you check the BBB they have numerous complaint on the way they do business, as this is not the first time they have done this.

it was staples that printed the ad. i also called twice to confirm it was a good ad to make sure everything was legit. that's when i got the conformation numbers from the 2 people i spoke to

if you look on redflag deals they did honor some of the orders

If it's to good to be true it normally is. It's pretty obvious no retailer can afford to sell a Playbook for $42.48+tax according to the math from your first post. It's also pretty obvious you knew it was a mistake since you called to check and checked red flag deals and are now butt hurt since they finally found their mistake.

It's like people who still sue for falling on ice in the winter and claim due negligence for people not maintaining their sidewalks. Ya because everyone has all day to sit around and wait for it to freeze just to put more salt on it. Maybe people should stop feeling entitled everything and stop trying to take advantage of each other, might just make the world a little bit more enjoyable to live in.

Anyways i'm done with this one. I posted my opinion and you posted yours.

Merry Christmass and Happy New Year!!!

they also advertized the xbox 360 for $99. when i got their on boxing day they said sorry it's $129 and was a misprint and said i should have checked their website!!! i was P****D OFF lol

So if you got to list your bike for sale on CL or Kijiji and somehow the $5000 gets shown as $500 you let it go to the first person who shows up with $500.

I do agree, however if a couple people called him and confirmed the 500$ then yes, I would expect him to sell it for that.

you are forgetting that these companies ( esp Canadian tire) get fined millions of dollars every year for false advertising, but they do it anyway. Because it gets them traffic. This is not at all like kijiji screwing up.
