I don't know what I was expecting. I kept getting distracted by that green tshirt trying to escape off that guy's back.

Recent ZX-10Rs have an LED tach... the weird pulsing is just an artifact of the video. I think the dash on the ZX-10R is super hot, wish they would adopt it across the board.

The LED output is a PWM (Pulse Width Modulated) circuit. All that basically means is the LED's are turned on and off rapidly to adjust the intensity of the light. This is done because LED's can only be on at 100% or completely off, you can't for example lower the voltage to reduce the light output. What you are seeing when they flicker is a mismatch between the rate of the on/off cycle of the LED's and the recording framerate of the camera being used.

Why is he using the clutch to upshift though? Thought it's better/quicker to shift without the clutch?
 
It's rider vs rider in those races.... Not bike vs bike. You're not comparing the bikes... with those riders, in that enviroment.
 
The only reason the guy on the BMW is wearing a helmet = somewhere to mount his camera. He's so tough he doesn't even need gloves.

Could be gearing too...my mod 600RR used to do pretty good against my buddies 1000RR off the line for the first little while ;)
