Sport touring pants - suggestions?

I'm looking for some pants to wear while driving in the city/touring that provides decent protection compared to jeans, something that's a good middle ground between assless chaps and ultra tight race leathers.

Riding during the day I'm scorching hot, then riding at night I'm cold. I was thinking of getting a perforated leather pant with base layers for when its colder out. Any recommendations on do-it-all riding pants?

Joe Rocket -Alter Ego pants. except its not gonna protect you much compared to leather.

I have two sets from Held: Burner for the cooler days and Malavi 2 for the warmer days. The upgraded armor is worth it. I actually end up wearing the Burner pants more, I find they breathe well enough that you don't really get hot unless you are sitting around inside.

I ordered some alter ego pants, I like the convertible aspect of them. I wish I knew about them before, I would've gotten a Super Ego convertible jacket too, it seems ideal for touring.

Thor knee protectors are cheap and work and easy on and off if you want to up the armor.

Poly long johns when it's cool

Velocity Storm pants. Go see Jimmy @ Velocity in Mississauga and you can get them custom sized. I have a pair that has seen a lot of use and I am happy with them.

I've ridden thousands of KMs in my RevIt Gear pants. They have leather where you need it for protection and textile in the non impact areas for ventilation.

Just grabbed these - $104

Price is right and seem to have the features I want and they had them in grey.

Figure they are about the lightest I'll find, like the waist set up and the flex panels. I've found previous attempts too stiff and sent them back.

Olympia Airglide 3 for hot days and comes with waterproof liner. With the liner in they are good down to about 5deg.
Olympia Ranger 3 for everything else (20 deg to -10deg) and is waterproof on the outside, but comes with liner for really cold days.
Thanks to Crazy Al's @ 50percent off:)

I also have a set of the alter ego's - but the zipper for the convertible panel failed, so now they can only be worn on non-rainy or warmer days.

It'll cost too much to get the zipper fixed cuz it's so long, so keep that in-mind.

I just got the Klim overland. The fit and the functions seems really good and their reputation is tip top. Going on a 10day trip tonight so I'll let you know how I really feel when I get back.

Joe Rocket Alter - Egos are fine....

But what is even better.... get on Crazy Al's BikeLeathers.ca mailing list (they are in London, ON)...they always have 10% or 15% off list and occasionally up to 50% off list...It was nice to get 50% off my last Joe Rocket gear!!!!

I bought BMW City 2 pants. (Denim one)
Extremely happy with it after trying tens of different touring pants. Best ever I've owned in terms of protection, comfort and look.
If I may suggest, stop by a BMW Motorrad and ask to try one. It worth it.

+ 1 for Joe Rocket ALter Egos...just came back from touring in Europe with these and no complaints and I was riding in 44.5 Cel. weather during the heat wave lol.

Alpinestars cargo pants!
very comfy, lots of storage with quick access when needed, warm enough yet beez-able. Oh did I mention the cargo pockets? :)

+1 on the Olympia Air Glides. They come with waterproof and thermal liner. I like that they zip all the way up the side so you can put them on and take them off in 10 seconds. Some of the higher end gear, have shorter zippers at the bottom, so you have to take off your boots.

I have the alter ego and true north by Joe Rocket. The alter ego has a removable flap which makes it great for summer riding, of course it gets warm in slow stop and go traffic. The true north has no venting so on really hot days they wouldn't be recommended.

They are both very comfortable though.
