Speedo conversion to metric

Newbie here, so excuse me if this has been covered before, but I couldn't find anything in the search. I am going to be picking up an American bike soon (H-D) and will either need to convert the speedo to metric, or pick up a new one. Can anyone recommend somewhere in Toronto that does conversions, or where to pick up a new one and have it set?

Most people order their new gauge in the us (cheaoer). If they do convert .I have been riding for 4 years with the US gauge .It took a few weeks to get used to . But now I don`t even pay attention to it.

Thanks for the reply. I was under the impression I had to switch it when I brought the bike to Canada for compliance.

Only if it only shows miles. If it has both you are fine.

Mine is on miles only .I don`t think the CT mechanic knows the difference.

depending on how those gauges are setup - perhaps just change the faces around? or put a new face ?

Now that you mention this .I think most Harleys have aftermarket face plates.

If you're good at division (math) you can use your gps to get 2-3 readings. Note the speed & divide the corresponding distance between the spaces in the speedo

Have you checked with a dealer? Also search online for aftermarket gauges for your model, there likely are a lot of options for Harley. They should all be available in miles or km.

One of the good things about owning a Harley, tons and tons of aftermarket and OEM support. A friend of mine recently picked up a replacement speedo for his Heritage Softail. Replaced his Imp speedo only unit for a piece with speedo, tach, fuel gauge and gear indicator for ~$350 new from the dealer. Direct plug and play.

Not quite the same model, but this will give you the idea

Thanks for the link, but I didn't find anything there in KM for my HD.

If you really need a KM speedo for your Harley. Order one from American Harley in Buffalo .I`m sure they have the part numbers plus the process of putting in the correct mileage.
