Speeding ticket question

A friend received a speeding ticket and the officer marked the box that his truck was a commercial vehicle , however it isn't, is that a valid error to fight it or will it still hold up in court. Thanks

Pick-up trucks have commercial plates on them, black letters on white background. In any case, the cop just has to identify the driver with accuracy. The vehicle not so much.

sounds like a non-fatal error on its own. the officer may have just been mistaken.

Griff was right, most (all?) trucks get the commercial (black and white) plates even when used for non-commercial uses/owners.

Griff2 gave the right answer. The vehicle has a commercial plate and is, therefore, a commercial vehicle. This does not necessarily imply that it's used for commercial purposes. This is how you differentiate between the white plates with blue letters, and the white plates with black letters.

Actually it doesn't even make it an error. It's an on purpose.

Its like I was renting a cargo van, which falls under commercial vehicle with black letter which my CC can't cover the insurance...

Not an error at all the vehicle if it has black and white plates is considered as commercial by the MTO
