Southwood rd ...SAND!

absolute

blind right hand corner SAND! same place another rider crashed a few weeks ago with his ninja.

the corner has a 30kph sign and if you are going southbound there's a ditch with water on the left hand side.
if your are going north bound there's also a 30kph sign, however the ditch with water is right infront of you beyond the road.

there is so much sand that if you walk on it, it'll imprint your footprints on it.

only safe way. come to complete stop before corner and take it below 10kph.

otherwise you'll run wide into oncoming traffic during a blind corner

or low side.

you have been warned!

p.s. 90 percent of other corners on Southwood is clean. 10percent bumpy and or minor sprinkles of gravel

and some guys were saying "an experienced rider could have saved that blah blah blah...." I was enjoying myself thinking "Damn, Southwood is pretty nice today...WHAMMO" dirtiest ****ing corner ever...At least you saw it for yourself and thought it bad enough to post up here.

Did you see my front fender still hanging off one of the birch trees by any chance?

if you ran over that sand at speeds more than 20kph, even an experienced rider would not save it.

lucky for me, i SAW the video you had, and because of that i recognized that corner and decelerated to a crawl before entering it, and right at the entry BAM was where i saw the sand. had i been going at the speed posted even (30k) i'd be screwed.....

on the lane i was riding, the sand spanned the whole width of the lane.

and sorry i didnt see your fairing lol

our group was heading south bound (left lane coming towards the camera), this picture was taking in the perspective of going north bound (right lane going away from the camera)

if you zoom in where the ground is white, that's actually ALL sand and its caked pretty thick

Did Southwood Rd. last weekend, saw sand on many corners. Took it easy and came out unharmed. Ride Safe everyone.

It's not visible in the photo, but that corner is at an intersection with a gravel road. The gravel road goes off to the right as viewed from the photo above. Traffic coming out from the gravel road will drag sand out onto the paved road.

They repaved that spot last year, otherwise you'd see my "line" on the asphalt in that picture...

There was no sand when I went through there last month but tons of gravel. Nice road but conditions seem too unstable there for my liking.
