Someone's bike is in peril while parked - what to do?

For me I don't want others touching my property so I wouldn't touch theirs.
So let me get this straight, you have a choice between me touching your bike, or the hot asphalt touching your bike, you'd prefer the asphalt? I may leave a finger print where-as the asphalt would leave damage.... You must be one of those guys that puts far more value into your possessions than they're worth, if they're too good to be touched by a good samaritian.

Whatever, doesn't both me one bit. I'll still save your bike if the opportunity arose and I'll deal with you politely and professionally if I'm "caught".

Booya,

Thanks for saving my bike from tipping over during that giant windstorm we had down at Deals Gap.

Keith

Hey Booya...BTW...saving Keith's bike, and letting mine fall over while I side-saddle Roy-Rogered it trying to hop on?
What's that all about?

LMFAO!

For me it would depend on the situation.
If I was in a big hurry I might not notice the bike at all.
If there was a crushed pop can sitting there and I wasn't in a hurry, then sure.

Don't forget that the owner didn't take the time to put down a puck in the first place.
So, I don't see a reason to blame others for doing the same.

If a car knocked a bike over, I'd leave a note with the pertinent information, but I wouldn't try to move the bike.

My bike tipped over in the heat and was resting on my friends bike. I didn't know this until I examined the damage and put two and two together. Someone obviously picked my bike off my friends cause I saw the hole that my stand had made.

If he/she didn't pick my bike up very likely my frds bike woulda tipped with mine ontop of it.

It's one thing to have your bike damaged because of your own negligence but to have someone else's bike fall on yours... Ugh. Can we make a sticky about putting something under your stand??

I would have waited for it to fall over and then I would have put a note on the bike saying "dude your bike fell over" just in case they did not notice... :)

Likely would have told the front desk. If I had an extra plate with me (round electrical box covers) and it was a side stand I would slip it under, not sure I would do it for a center stand (specially if it had already started to sink)..
