Sold bike, cancelled insurance. Planning to get another one in a few months

Hey guys,

I had a bike insured with company A. I sold it, called them and have cancelled the policy and got a refund, since the bike is sold. They asked if I'm replacing it for another one, and I said no since I have no immediate replacement.

However in a few months I plan to start looking for another one, and will likely have to get it insured by the end of summer.

I asked around for rates, and company B has the best rates around for that bike. Company A is much higher.

Is there anything wrong with what I'm planning to do? Is there any penalty for selling a bike, cancelling insurance and then getting another one with a different provider a few months later?

Thanks in advance.

No issues at all, with motorcycle insurance there are no loss of discounts if you don't have continuous insurance, unlike auto insurance, you loose your continuous insurance discount.

Something to note: You should be making a *big* stink if you do lose any discounts from a break in insurance.

Length of insured time and continuous insurance are explicitly excluded from being allowed in any insurance rating. By the letter of the law, these discounts are in compliance, but they're a thinly veiled way of imposing the same charges. If it affects you, report it to the ombudsman.
