So I popped my rear tire....

On Saturday I was riding back to Kitchener from Ribfest and punctured my rear tire on HW.6. Not sure what I drove over but it was a pretty big hole. Tire was Dunlop Q3, which has amazing grip but thread was def coming to it's life (They performed amazing at Tale of the Dragon). Got 8000KM on it. I guess it's an OK mileage for soft tires.

I'd like to try Pirreli tire but need your feedback.
Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa or Pirelli Diablo Rosso Rosso 2? I like to lean hard on the bike by the way. Just give me your general experience with either please. I want to make an order today.

I like to pop bottles and not tires :(

Thanks!

Honestly, I think you'd prefer another Q3 over the Pirellis, from the reviews I've read.

(No personal experience with either here, only Metzeler).

Ah how spoiled we've become....8K out of a supersport tire, still got meat left and hes bitching? Not even 5 years ago the dual compound tires were 5K or so unless you went with sport touring.

How did you get home? flatbed? Did you have CAA etc.

A friend of mine ran over a large pot hole in WV a few weeks ago and spent 2 days of his vacation waiting for tires and rims. Plus a a $600 towing fee.

Now that was a sad story.

Bitching? I ain't even mad brah. Most of people on here don't even put 5K per riding season, I'm at 15K.
Q3 is an amazing tire but with our flat roads and me riding a lot it's hard to justify and this tire started hitting wearing tabs. I need something with harder compound in the middle.
I've tried Michelin Pilot Road 3's this season but they weren't as grippy.

When I noticed the flat tire we just finished drinking our Timmies at the gas station. Filled up with air and made it to another gas station, filled up again and made it to my buddy's house where I took his 2012 R1 (184whp) to my house :)

Was thinking ordereing tire from Pete's but shops are cranking the cost of the install as soon as you tell them that you don't wanna buy tire from them. The way I see it is that it's easier form to just drop the bike off at Zdeno Cycle in Kitchener. $235 installed for Rosso Corsa and they already have it in stock.

A hole in the wallet but I hate missing my riding time.

How is this relevant?

Buy any tire, you are riding street, who cares

Meh, he spent the money on an R1, so he's bought the right to brag about it's WHP

And "buy any tire" is poor advice.... even for street riding. Have to factor in the type of riding, distance, etc... not 'any tire' will give him the cost: performance he would like.

Let's just all buy Shinko's then. Not that they're terrible tires, but they aren't as good on cost: performance as other leading brands, pending on the comparison.

That R1 must have NOS or a $20,000 motor in it.

You couldn't pay me to ride on Shinko tires.

I was trying to piss him off with my "who cares for street riding" since he seems to have something to prove ;)

lol wat?
My buddy offered me one of his slightly used Metzler tires for free, I said "Thanks but no thanks".
I like to have full confidence when I take that on/off ramp.

Full exhaust + dyno tune. That's all I know.

I use BT016 on my street 750 (153HP yoo) I take the ramps just fine, and they look shinny when I polish them with wax

On a serious note, there are many threads in here that go over the same question in detail, do a search
