smart tv recommendation?

There's pretty much nothing that a "smart" TV can do that your PS4 attached to it can't do better. So far I despise all smart TV software packages equally, as the manufacturers seem to give up on updating it after about 6 months

We have a 60" Samsung LCD Smart TV and it is quicker and easier being able to access the apps through the TV versus using one of our gaming systems. You Tube works well via pairing as well.

We get Crave TV for free since we are Bell ExpressVu customers but have not bothered to use it much yet since the Crave TV app is not ready for Samsung yet. I guess we could stream it from our Samsung tablet since we can do that but seems like a pain in the rumpus versus just using an App.

You can also hook up USB sticks or a nice big external harddrive and it will play back those files super easily. Smart TVs well worth the extra $ in our case. It is also an active 3D TV and it is easy to play back 3D files when they are in side to side format.

Get a regular tv & hook up an android box to it. Tv doesn't get any smarter than that

Enjoying my Samsung HU8550 immensely. I have an HTPC thats now basically a streaming box. YouTube and PLEX apps on the TV itself take care of everything and the pointer-remote is awesome.

I got the 9000 for Xmas and cannot be happier with this mofo TV. I have all my gadgets connected to it and stream all kinds of crap, love it!

To the OP, LG gives you great bang for your buck, but if you have some cash lying around, get a Samsung TV, it's da sh!t :)

Samsung are great if you don't enjoy your right to privacy, love spyware and ads.

you can do your own google searches, the company has been under fire because it records your voice conversations and passes this info onto third parties. There is a microphone on the TV and one on the remote.

and I'll provide you this link with more Samsung BS.....

users complain their samsung plays ads during movies

You can opt out of it all and disable the mic. It only records when you ask it to listen to voice commands and an icon is present on screen.

Sky falling, etc.

In other news: people carry internet connected devices with microphones and cameras in their pockets all day- more at 11!

OMG!! THE HUMANITY!!!

lolz
BTW when you set up the Tv it asks you to agree to all kinds of terms and services. You can click disagree on all of it and still use the TV just fine. I believe some of their apps or services may not work but mine is doing just fine.

I agreed to everything, I just wanted to start watching TV and I'm always naked at my place, if they want to share my weiner and my cursing with third parties, good for them!

You can go into settings under Smart Hub > Terms and disagree to some of the stuff you agreed to earlier, if you care to do it.

The stuff about recording voices didn't piss me off. It only pisses off idiots who are too dumb to recognize that ANY smart device listening for voice commands does exactly the same thing: pass off data to a server for processing. Phones and game consoles do the same thing. If there's background conversation going on while you're telling it a voice command, that gets sent out too. This should be obvious.

What DID bother me was news of Samsung injecting ads into local content- that's just uncalled for. It shouldn't happen if you opt out and disagree with their terms; but if it still does, there would be a massive lawsuit on their heads.

So, no cockblock, then? :p

Thanks everyone. Specific model numbers would be great. Will check out the samsung ones. I know a good place that has lower prices than costco so will go there next week

Keep in mind Costco has added extra year of warranty included in price. But deals are on most popular models only.

40' minimum.

That's a big effen TV! Lol! My next TV will be 46" minimum. When the movies go widescreen, I find it a little small.

46" tiny I wouldn't bother with anything under 60" myself. The whole viewing distance thing is a bit of a sham too- bigger is better. I watch my 60" from about 8' away and 1080p sources are clear as hell. 4K is another level entirely, I could watch it from 3 feet away. Considering most movies are letterboxed 2.35:1 you're really not utilizing the entire screen at all. I would've gone even bigger than 60" but my wife whined too much about it as it is.
