Silicone Intake Boots

I have an older bike that needs new Intake boots. I can no longer find the OEM rubber intake boots in good condition. Has anyone used Silicone Intake Boots (usually used in air intake systems for cars) for their motorcycles? If so, have you had any issues?

It's for a 1988 Honda CBR250R (MC17).

The issue with silicon boots vs oem boots is that the silicon boots are softer with a small wall and don't hold up as much weight vs an OEM boot. The boots are used to seal + hold the carbs up in place....rigid boots are required.

If you can find rigidit boots - I don't see why they wouldn't work.

I don't see why they won't work. They do not degrade with heat and lasts much longer.

Silicone rubber is much more expensive that regular rubber

Thanks guys, I've been recommended to use radiator hose (thicker but flexible) cut to size. I will give it a try. Cheers!

Silicone is an upgrade for stock rubber rad hoses, so silicone is way better then your average rubber rad hose...

Silicone is used all the time in custom applications, turbo bikes for example often use a lot of silicone hose for the turbo connections.

Bottom line silicone is an upgrade over stock rubber boots and hoses...I just worked on a turbo ZX10 a while ago, and the boots for the airbox/throttle boddies was blue silicone...That bike was supposed to be good for 250+hp ...So I think your 88 250 will do just fine with some silicone

Most performance car shops will carry this type of hose, but I like the quality of SAMCO so I order in
