Side bag recommendations - Honda CB450

Hey all,

Wondering if anyone has recommendations for side bags for my 1983 Honda CB450 Nighthawk. I've seen bags that straddle under the seat like the photo. Anyone know where I might get something like this? Leather or fabric, I'm not fussy.

Very common type of bag. Have them at all the bike shows. Even some that detach like luggage. $100 or less new. Should be able to find some on Kijiji.

Gp bikes, royal distributing, most bike shops will stock a few. Best bet for price/selection will be gp bikes and royal.
Used, try kijiji like Joe Bass suggested.

You'll need metal saddlebag standoffs to ensure the soft bags don't go into your rear wheel, causing potential rear wheel lockup.

Leather will last longer. You might consider if you want waterproof bags. Also, there are hard bags that are waterproof and can be removed and carried into the house. These are very convenient and are lockable. It all depends on the purpose of your bags.

I have hard bags now but used both of these in the past. Just put your stuff in a thick garbage bag then in the saddle bag to keep them dry. The Atv bags I had to measure and sew the middle loop to fit my 90 Kat600 properly. They can come on sale very cheap if you can wait. I may have an old set stored away I will look for them.

If you need a loop or bracket just buy and bend some brake line to fit.

Awesome response - thanks everyone! I assume mounting the standoffs is relatively simple too. It'll be a while before I get them but I'll try to post a pic when done. Thanks, too, BrownBrady for the fellow NH recommendation.

Thanks for this link. Those are decent looking bags and I can't believe they're only $30. I don't have any stand-offs in the bike yet so I should look for those too. Not sure what you mean by bending brake lines - do you have a photo / video where this is done. It sounds simple but want to make sure I have it right. Don't want anything jamming in my back wheel!
Cheers.
