I just book my first camping experience at Sibbald Point.
I've never gone camping, but I'm pretty outdoorsy (sp).

Anybody have any experience here?
Any input for a new camper? Should I bring a machete to dig holes to poop? Use leaves of shrubs to wipe my bum?

Its a nice park. There are washrooms if i remember correctly.

Too bad i still cant step foot in any provincial parks .. lmao. What a night that was !!

It's a pretty decent location although I haven't done any overnights there, day time beach is good. It tends to get a little packed, still worth it.

I did get pulled over speeding by a park ranger, who said I was 'really cooking it' on my bike. Good times

It's a good park for families (been a number of times with wife+kids), so it's clean, and there are washrooms and showers. It does get packed though.

Please do tell!
I've heard park rangers patroll regularly even at nights.

Is the beach good for swimming? Goose poop in the water?
I was contemplating Earl Rowe Park, but heard bad reviews about it

No goose poop, but plenty of seaweed when you just step into the water. It's very "civilized" with washrooms and showers, so you don't need machete. And yes, it does get very packed, especially on long weekends.

The story is a bit of a long one, so if you see me in person ask me than.

Back than people were swimming in the beach area, so i dont know if that has changed or not.
And yes, the rangers dont just patrol the road area. If they suspect you of being a "troublemaker" they will hide in the bushes near your site and patiently prey on you.

I've been camping there annually since I was a child. It's a popular spot because it's so close to the city but in relation to other provincial parks it's nothing special. I just have a nostalgic soft spot for it. Been kicked outta there once or twice myself :D

It's drive-in camping which means: rows and rows of dirt lots separated by a few trees (some even have power outlets), water taps every 100 metres or so, toilet and shower facilities. Very comfortable and great if you just want to relax and drink.

There used to be a boat rental place at the dock wayyy back that has unfortunately disappeared. Alcohol is permitted except on holidays, park rangers/OPP do patrol and are noise nazis no matter which area of the park you camp in.
There's a store at the beach and right outside the park gate. Kiddie go-karts down the street and an outdoor paintball arena a short drive away. If you plan to fish it's mostly panfish and catfish in that area.

Have a good time!

other than being outside, it's not very "outdoorsy"...a good family provincial park with good amenities.

LOL, what are we? In high school? lol

I guess after I graduate from this I will take it more remote. My ideal campsite should be in a remote area, away from ppl, lol.

Thanks all

Portage....I still don't get you Canadians at times....if I buy a canoe it's to go in the water not to take it for a ****ing walk.

Did you get a spot in the quiet area ? I hope not

Sent from phone

I lived 15 mins up the hwy from there...camped there as boy scout...great for families and a wife who ain't that crazy about roughing it. Kinda like camping in your backyard. Nice beach though.

I did, why?

Sent from my tablet using my paws

if you are going with fam and kids I guess is ok, but they are ***** in the "quiet" area, not even a radio allowed during day time, they probably ***** about you playing music from your phone. Usually people in the quiet area around you are extremely bitchy, (from past experiences) so I always make sure I am nowhere near a quiet area. I like to sit around the camp fire and talk and laugh at night (not being loud of course) and in quiet areas this is not an option.

In May I did the 3-day Highlands backpacking loop. It was my Vietnam.

That being said.... there's nothing like being 20 km into the middle of nowhere. Me and my buddies are looking into going again next year, probably a canoe trip this time, though.

if you do plan something like that mind if I tag along.. most of my friends are lazy and all they wanna do is sit and drink. I've not been able to convince them on doing this
