I turn 30 in 2 months time. I am looking to insure a bike I recently purchased. I have never had motorcycle insurance before and hold a GM license. I was given a quote from several places, TD, Statefarm, Jevco and noticed that if I change the date I wish for insurance to become effective from say today (july 7th) to a day or two after my 30th birthday (Sept 22nd) the rate drops by half for the policy.

Should I wait it out since if I get a policy now I will be paying the higher rate for the next year?

Advise welcome here. I wanna ride but don't want to get run over with the insurance rates if I just wait 2 months.

are you rich? If so, get it now

are you poor? If so, wait

are you middle class? If so, flip a coin

Since your turning 30 in 2 months, you'll only have to wait a month as most insurance companies give a 30 day grace. (TD and Statefarm both do this)

I would say wait. As long as you have your bike locked up somewhere safe. If you live in a condo.. your gonna want some theft insurance.

Take the next 30 or 60 days and start your modding/maintenance. Im sure you will want to do a few things - maybe a exhaust, new signals, fender eliminator, maybe paint, oil change, plugs, air filter...

Might as well do them now while you can have the bike apart for a bit

They money you would save would pay for half of this list.
